We never actually see what the electronic brain that you get in the sink looks like. Maybe it looks close enough to the real thing that tobar got confused and took a piece of it? You know, kind of like the robotics from bicentenial man?

Which actually gives the right idea. If Tobar has fun with a player who already had his brain removed he takes a bit of the electronics out of the players head.

So the only thing we need is a slightly different looking item the player gets from PL. Not such a big deal handing out a different thingie in this case.

Honestly, I don't think this is an issue that TTW should deal with. Play the game in the right order and it's fine, or, you know, don't go do PL or something. I don't think we should expend time and effort fixing the story of two games that weren't meant to be combined with two characters that weren't meant to be the same person just so the game can be played in the wrong chronological order.

Yes, I know the goal is to have TTW play from either direction, but if this is changed what else gets changed? No Trouble on the Homefront quest? No Butch companion? No every single person in the Capital Wasteland calling you a vault dweller (which you wouldn't be, and since word seems to travel fast in DC people would know this wasteland savvy wanderer came from somewhere else). Yes, the choice is there to play from the NV side of things, but the game only really plays properly if you start from DC.

Oh, having the OWB scientists comment on lack of brain part after PL? Too many complications arise from trying to imagine every way the two games can conflict and attempt to fix it.

You're probably right. If it's not doable without a hassle, then it's no big deal.

my major concern would be having to make all the wasteland react appropriately to every thing you would've done in NV or CW that might affect it.  just dealing with the brain situation, we have to account for:

  • do you have your brain when you go to PL?

  • do you have all of your brain when you go to OWB?

  • wait, doesn't the artificial heart prevent poison?  is the mother punga spray a poison?

  • don't we now need to decide whether a lump of brain missing from your brain before OWB should be mentioned and/or represented in OWB?

  • what about the cyborg trait?  that's vanilla fo3, how come there was no accounting for it in PL?

  • etc.

IIRC during the OWB they say that the brain had a peculiar and uncommon feature (or something like that), so it would even make sense that it was because Tobar chop off a bit of the brain cheeky.

The Courier doesn't seem to

The Courier doesn't seem to have any problem losing bits of brain, I mean Benny blow some of them out maybe his brain regenerates or something. There are stranger mutants for sure.

in OWB, when mobius says you've got a peculiarity, your responses are all about getting shot in the head though.

well since the Courier is not voiced, one could just add something like "or maybe it was from that time I got lobotomized by that Tobar creep." to one of those shot in the head topics. cheeky
