Skills Books Convert To Pre-War Books After Use

Post by Cowlick035 » Tue Dec 10, 2019 4:43 pm

Self explanatory. I've included the Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vender skill book for the time-being, but I may end up changing this in the future.

The .zip file contains three .esp files: SkillBooksToPreWar.esp (skill and pre-war books retain their vanilla attributes), SkillBooksToPreWar-Heavy&ExpensivePreWarBooks.esp (skill books retain their weight and value after being converted) and SkillBooksToPreWar-Light&CheapSkillBooks.esp (skill book weights and values are matched to pre-war books). Use only one.

Looks good. That game mechanic always made me laugh - what happened to the book when you read it? Did you eat it? You certainly didn't drop it as it's not on the ground afterward. It just... vanished.

The skill books are so old and irradiated that they just disintegrate when you finish reading them.

The game is full of stuff like that... Eat that Pork n' Beans? Where's the tin can? Just finished guzzling a nuka cola? Where is the empty bottle? Same with any alcohol bottle. Ate your caravan lunch and the lunch box is now gone... The Lone Wanderer/Courier just eat the bottles, tin cans, lunchboxes, etc.

It wouldn't be too hard to write the scripts for all of those things. I only made this one so that the player can donate their used books to Yearling, but there are a few recipes that require things like tin cans and empty bottles. I may end up writing those scripts once I get to a point in my current playthrough in which it seems necessary.

Quite a few needs mods edit things like pork & beans to give you a tin can, and water/soda/alcohol to give empty bottles. My Fallout 4 soda replacer has all sodas giving the proper empty soda bottles.

Gotta bug report. In the scripts, you use removeme to remove the book when it's read. The problem is that removeme gets rid of ALL items of that ref, not just one. So if you have two Dean's Electronics and read one, you have none afterwards. You need to use removeitem to remove just one item.

Ah, thank you. I'll upload an update ASAP.

EDIT: I've replaced the download link with the new version.
