ttw status

Post by Carter » Sun Jun 05, 2016 4:48 am

I hope you guys are still working on this, do not let fo4 kill it completely, I have seen less and less activity here from the little I do check it but just wanted to see if I am wrong or if anyone else is noticing a drop in activity or what, is ttw still being actively updated?

Plus the amata follower mod would be nice if that got fixed, maybe with a companion wheel as well.

Awesome, I am glad to hear that. I get on every once in a while and a lot of the mods I liked here and stuff are pretty much unchanged and I was sort of worried, this is my all time favorite mod ;)

Instead of showing up to make a post about it then disappearing for 1.5 years you could volunteer to help out?

I have plenty of my own projects and I have been busy at work, plus I am not the best with making mods for this game, so I am not sure I could help much, I am currently making a game with unity in my spare time and I am getting better scripting and coding though, maybe I will start a few fallout projects and practice with that also, if there is anything you guys really need I could try but I can't promise anything much.

TJ, Is there a list here that shows "Things to do", other than mod conversions for Fallout 3? I'm in the very slooooow process of learning to mod/script by creating a custom companion with it's own quest, vault, whole smack (great project for us to start with though a bit bigger in scope that I intended as a first project - lol!), and I'll help out best I can, which the limited amount I'm capable of doing atm, but I'll need a "scope" of what's needed so I can see where I might be able, with my present experience, to help.

Look: all you cats using "I'm super busy" get no sympathy from me. I can almost guarantee you I'm the busiest guy around these parts what with all the things I have going on, but that doesn't matter. You wanna help TTW, you do it this way: When you first show up show the team that you're competent and not an idiot. That's step one. You do this by doing your best to help out in chat / in the forums. Once you become a "Trusted Poster" you get access to what's currently being worked on for testing and such. Start submitting patches to Roy and Pup or even to Rise to go directly into testing if you feel your work is good enough. Do this for awhile, and make it a point to get to know the team - this is key - and eventually you'll find you've been invited to become a team member. When this site went live the TTW team was Chuck and Jax. That's how I became a team member, and I'm pretty sure it's always been that way (I've been around here a very long time.)

i'm pretty sure that's how i did it.  although i wasn't the one to submit patches to when i was submitting patches as a trusted user, but you get the idea.  and when i started, i fixed the OA Requisition optional to be functional, so i got no idea what the bar is for submissions anymore.

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

I helped out in chat for months and demonstrated that I could learn how to mod with a minimum of fuss.
