Decrease health for Broken Steel enemies?

Post by Panzermann11 » Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:59 am

So we all know the super mutant overlord, albino radscorpion and the feral ghoul reaver from Broken Steel and how they're extremely infamous for their absurd amount of health and damage dealt. Even more faster and powerful than a deathclaw, somehow.

It'd be really nice if these guys have their health cut by half, I and probably many others can agree they need some serious balancing, even New Vegas goes out its way to reduce the health of reavers. This would greatly makes fights with them much less fustrating.

The problem of Albino is not exactly their HP and their resistance. Their problem is the pitiful loot from their remains after a hard and expensive fight.

Ditto with reaver, but of lesser level because they are easy to deal with. Stuck a LMG barrel on their face and pump 100 HP rounds onto that : problem solved.

Overlord? No problem at all. Their equipment are sellable. Good enemy. AP rounds to the arms to disarm them, then the head.
------------
Conclusion, Albino's problem is entirely racial one: the scorps are so little in loot it's tiring just look at them. At least, in comparison with their hardiness. Other races has same level of loot scarcity at least have the decency to die quickly. Not so the scorps.
------------
Back to topic, so yeah, Albino could use some HP cut down, considering their one or two glands drop behind each fight.

Reavers and Overlords? No need. There should be some tough ones to use all these expensive weapons, carefully collected, lovingly maintained, jealously supplied with various type of ammo.

Let me tell you , there's no fun to one-burst-kill enemy.

Reavers look pretty weak, but somehow are more superior than deathclaws in terms of their speed, health and how they can cripple all of your limbs with their radioactive gore and put you down in about just 2 hits. They literally have more speed and health than an average deathclaw. If you don't have a decent weapon to put them down quickly, chances are you're most likely fucked, especially on Point Lookout because you can't bring companions there. And their loot is the same as that of a regular feral.

The overlords... Most of the loot they have is nice, but the health they have make them feel a little like behemoths with a gun, a lot larger then the super mutant master. And you can kill super mutant masters much more easier using small arms with regular ammo if you know what you're doing.

Cheap players who dont stock expensive ammo suitable for different situation... get no love from me. Considering the massive ammount of mods adding MORE type of ammo into the game.

Seriously, change ammo depending on where you are and what you are going to fight next is a classic tactic and need/should be your usual behaviours.

If an enemy can be killed by normal ammo, it can be killed by one burst of HP ammo... cheap fodder! I am not interested in cheap fodders.

And if reavers appear on PLO, that mean you going there too late... which mean you should have your collection of expensive weapons, carefully collected, lovingly maintained, jealously supplied with various type of ammo. Because nothing prevent you bring that with you. There's a bunch of containers in the boat's room to stock.

Truth be told, there's nothing to make you relax and losing your watchfulness. The whole damn place is horror theme, I get uneasy setting food on that land in 1st minute.

You know the only thing make me happy in PLO would be firing mininuke indiscrimately. There's almost no important NPC on the open (Madam is sole exception), so it would be safe in that regard.

Expensive behaviour, to be sure, but VERY approriate with that damn swamp.

Yes, I do use unique ammo. Sniper rifles are useful against super mutants with regular ammo because of its critical chance bonus. Even with 5mm AP ammo and explosives it somehow still takes tons of hits to kill a reaver and overlord.

I remember someone said "Seriously, Overlords and Reavers can just go away forever" when discussing Broken Steel in this site, that's probably how most players feel about these enemies. Tell me, is it fun to fight enemies which can withstand even the most powerful of damages, also known as "bullet sponges"? If so, do the others think the same, too?

Generally, it's not fun to fight enemies resistant to all kinds of damage.

Precisely, there's only ONE type of enemies fit that description: Albino.

I find no second race of such hardiness~

Overlord? AP ammo to the arm to break their fighting ability (until animation of their arm broken) then to the head for crit damage. Pump one hundred rounds of AP ammo out and they are gone~

Reaver? HP ammo if no DT. If there's DT, AP bullets.

Light Machine Gun with drums fit the bill.

If target has DT too high: Minigun fully modded or Eugene to use 5mm with high penetrating ability. Assault Carbine will NOT cut the mustard in that case.

There's never an enemy that cant be killed with enough AP bullets pumping into their bodies.

Oh, and super pro tip: Living Anatomy for seeing HP and DT of enemies. Noobs that dont know to get this perk, which is most of video uploaders you can see on youtube, wouldnot know how and why.

Seriously, no second race of such hardiness as Albino~

I find it easier to get the knock-back perk and use the combat or riot shotgun. The knock-back keeps them from attacking while you just keep pumping them full of that sweet 12 gauge goodness.

Chems, Ammo, high damage weapons, perks. They are all trivial with using the game mechanics. The reaver super crippling is a bit dumb imo, I may look into that.

Deathclaws are something to be reckoned with in 3.3 as well because NV severely nerfed their health.

Because most people don't want a game that's easy and boring.

I made a mod for you, it's called "Casual Creatures" on nexus, it removes the DT some creatures have.
