Game nolonger loading

Post by Razer1978 » Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:08 pm

Hi guy's, my game has been running better than ever so last night decided to add 3 new mods to my load order these are Better casinos, the weapon mod menu & Increased Wasteland Spawns, the first 2 i didn't think could cause issue with my current load order running with TTW with IWS the only one that may have caused an issue and if it did the plan was just to uninstall and move on with out it.

anyway installed the mods from the same FOMOD files that i had working with the stock game and being as NV mods seem to work without too much fuss i didn't see a problem

so started the game as normal and loaded my last save (just arrived at the sink in case it's relevent) and the wheel spins about 4 times then crash to desktop, at first thought it must be IWS so uninstalled it and tried again and got the same problem so uninstalled the next likely problem mod weapon mod menu and tried again and same thing again crash to desktop so uninstalled the last new mod better casinos but still no luck

i've uninstalled and reinstalled unified hud just in case it was a hud problem and also tried moving things around in the load order with no luck i've also made a merged patch and still no luck..... needless to say i'm pulling my hair out after putting in 161 hours in the game with still the whole of new vegas to explore and all dlc and side quests as well as the main story to finish and quite a bit of the DC wastes to explore along with zeta and point lookout to do

here's my load order as i said i have moved things around a little but only after doing the other things listed above

Have you tried a save from before you went to OWB? Just guessing here but, maybe it has to do with the DLC itself, there was one bug with OWB that had to be fixed, still could be more that we just haven't found yet.

Hi Chuck, thanks for getting back to me, yes i have tried a few saves including the one before going to OWB, short of starting a new something i'm not too keen on doing being as i've put in 160+ hours so far :)

i just don't understand how the 3 mods i installed and uninstalled using FOMM can kill my game even after being uninstalled

Can you even start a new game

Post by chucksteel » Thu Jan 17, 2013 6:24 pm

Can you even start a new game? Might want to test that too. Worst case you may need to do a clean install of FNV and, TTW, Re-Add the mods you know were working but, before doing that back up your saves.

Sorry I don't have any better answers for you.

thats great, also managed to

Post by Razer1978 » Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:53 pm

thats great, also managed to load and old save game had to go back to just before traveling to vegas but wasn't too bad as i was in vegas to do OWB and some of the other vegas dlc, anyway just finished a 20+ hour game (i lefte it running over night to see if it would crash or anything) and apart from going very slow (as low as 10fps moving between cells sorted that out) the game was rock solid i've also got weapon mod menu and better casinos running without issue

i really want to run IWS even if it will only be useable in vegas and the dlc's as i think vegas is a little lacking in life seeing as it wasn't hit by the bombs i feel there should be more life.

anyway question is could this be the mod that caused the problem ie can a mod mess up a save even one from before the mod was installed or was it just a strange random event? or is there another mod that works with both wastelands, unfortunately i'm no good at modding i can just about manage changing a master on a file but thats about it :( i do plan on learning some modding but right now i have adobe illustrator to master for my business i'm trying to get off the ground

yes mate and have done since

Post by Razer1978 » Sat Jan 19, 2013 12:36 pm

yes mate and have done since F3, do you think this could be the reason?

quick update while i'm here, IWS installed and working so wasn't that well can't see it being that anyway, i'm also in OLB and things are ok not as rock solid as normal, i've had a few CTD's and a few slowdowns here is also a part of the forbidden zone just past the x (48???) sign, there's a box then a narrow ish canyon that as soon as you walk through this certain part instant CTD i will do some more testing when i've finished my current quest, will a few screen shots of the area and location on the map be any good?

also i read somewhere about using the sink as a player home i think the question was asked about the stock NV but i think this would be awesome, so the question is are the boxes and the like safe to store my stuff or is there a mod that will make this possible?

I've just noticed with CASM

Post by Pear_13ear » Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:59 pm

I've just noticed with CASM that anytime I add a mod to TTW, it won't load properly and will either Freeze, Not Respond, or CTD. Doing a manual save before adding any mods usually works for me. If you're in The Sink still, you may be able to salvage your character by moving all your F:NV TTW data into a separate file ( for quick restoring ), replace it with the vanilla files, or pre TTW modded NV, by either doing a reinstall or using a back up folder ( I keep a Vanilla, Pre TTW Modded, and Vanilla TTW backups just incase ) and then doing a manual save after reloading.

After the manual save, replace your folder with your F:NV TTW data, and try reloading. You will probably lose any modded items, but you can add them back in manually using the console if you know their numbers. ( If not, I believe the F:NVEDIT lists them when you click on the different subsections of the mod. )

However, our mods and computers are VERY different, so it may not work on your system.
