Scripted Vertibird fly by or landing

Post by Laclongquan » Sun Jun 20, 2021 3:46 am

I'd like a list of possible Scripted Vertibird fly by or landing

In an effort to hunt down Vertibird with Miss Launcher, roleplaying Capital Air Defense, Online!

The usual wikia https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout ... _and_camps help a bit in identifying possible locations of Vbird fly by. But not much.

Some of it is one and same. Some is envisoned as same but actual not, say the Vernon square bird that fly by to landing on the other side, unreachable portion of the wall. I think it's envisioned to be the one landing on the west entrance that kick out the BOS contigent. But I shot it down (with AMR because too quick) and yet the west entrance landing still occur.

Some is addition, like one in Columbus Square. That one is slow and eat HE missile on the butt, several rounds.

Some is not mentioned because I think it's hellish to activate that script. Example:
Dunwich building (not in yet), when I go from the north hill, toward the face of Dunwich, but veer off due west toward the rigged baby carriage. Near THAT cliff but still way inside, I hear the engine first, then it fly from east to west on the north face (door) of the building.
I reload and try to activate that damn script, but no, it just NOT firing.

A looking back review on Anti-Vertibird weapons, on combined grading from roleplaying and efficiency
+ Miss Launcher is too slow. HE missiles are too slow and only work on solo target landing, maybe. For efficiency, Hypervelocity is called for.
+ Fatman doesnt work because we dont know how to calculate for dropping target zone. Same with alien cannons. Terrain can be a stone cold SOB in this situation.
+ AMR can work but it's so slow, so inelegant, so un-roleplaying I use it once. It can work and if it's to your taste AMR can serve.
+ There's a few others but I forbore to comment
+ The winner is Plasma Caster. Push button to burst ten bolts out , reload, do it again. It's the only thing that can keep up with quick flying speed of Vbird.

Abit of a weird one, the scripted flyby in National Depot map.

This one is an "indoor" separate map, not a part of world map cell, so it's a bit weird. When I get to the specific area in 3rd floor, not the upper edge of 4floor/ceiling, the Vbird fly by close and fast. Mind you, its fan sound is vibrating in 2nd floor a bit if you pay attention to that type of sound, which I do~

Naturally, missile doesnt react fast enough. Plasma Caster save the day again.

--------------------------
Win some, Lose some

The SatCom Array NW-07c's two vertibird flyby is VERY quick and very close, thus, Miss Launcher lose target. I think there's one hit but I am not sure. Anyway, that hit doesnt take it down, so that's that.

However, Plasma Caster shot down one and I think the nuke explosion from that take down the other as well. Since I try twice and no sign of the next bird that is right next to the target.

Unregistered (or perhap TTW only) flyby and landing West of Corvega Factory, SW of the sealed cistern Yankee Bravo. In wikia of Fallout3 it's registered as a Enclave camp with experimental rho ID chip...

This sucker flyby right in the middle of the day and land right on the middle of street heedless of noone. Naturally I hit it with a pair of HV then one HE missile to take it down right when it drop troop. 100xp harvested, so I guess two hostiles, but their corpses are flying god know where. Maybe they will return in respawn.

Finally activate MQ and get the GECK.

Raven Rock's final demise show a bunch of vertibirds flying away, all are too fast for missile.

The first duo, I shot down with plasma caster (again) one and the nuke finish off the other.

The second duo is setting to be auto destroy? Anyway, caster doesnt seem to register on them. Weird.

The third duo is same as first.

Prime Optimus Siege Engine is great.

Right out of the gate we have three flyby close enough that their nuclear explosion would affect us. And of course, Plasma caster save the day. Missiles just is too slow.

On the bridge is three, four parked Vertibird. One situated behind the force wall close enough that I MIRV the area (just because) it can hit.

One flyby to shoot at Prime on the bridge, which is nice~

The one parked below the building bridge with hostile defenders is just asking for it~

After that though, after that it seem none appear? I dont remember much because fighting on the streets can be taxing on my mind. But yeah, I think none appear. Only infantry try to stop us.

There should be a vbird landing on the Jefferson plaza but because I turbo up and run like hell on the high circular bridge around the place to hit them on the back, I dont see it.

Anyway, I count 10 birds on this battle if you turbo all the time and hunt them down~

Battle of Rockland has two or three vbird, not very exciting in this aspect.

Olney is so so. They really should have scripted Vbird dropping troops down when we enter/leave with coil. But since it's a no, borrrrrrring~

Who Dare Wins is pretty exciting since we have quite a few Vertibird coming and dropping troops.
+ The wings right after we exit from the tunnels is 3-4 I think. Too close so the nuclear explosion hide what coming and going.
+ The others coming and going on the way to the tower is normal. Parked ones are boring.
+ On the airport , there's one parking waaaaaaay up on the runway, unable to see from the roof of the tower. Though on the mobile base we can see it, thus shooting it to explode. As an aside, on the roof of tower, we can not VAT the two hostile trooper targets on the base roof shooting down, so has to real time sniping them. Exciting.
+ When we get up to the control room of the tower, there's three, I think, flyby. Plasma Caster only.
+ After put in the destruction code for the base, we get out to the helipad. Aside from the captured Vbird coming to pick us up, there's one or two others which we dont shoot because who know which is our ride.
