TTW Installer sets CPU to 100% the shuts down PC

Post by UnknownAK » Wed Aug 20, 2014 1:59 am

Hi, so as the title explains when i run the installer it will go through its processes normally and then as it will stop at  "Building Fallout3 - Meshes". When i saw this i just thought that it was just processing normally because the command prompt window would flash up every now and again indicating it was going okay.

The problem came after about 10 minutes of "Building Fallout3 - Meshes" when it revved my CPU up 100% usage, i was quite worried by this but i decided to just ignore it thinking it would only do so for a short amount of times due to some heavy file processing. After about 10 minutes of installing with the 100% CPU usage my PC shutdown, i tried this a few times but to the same outcome. The only thing i can see is reasonable is that the power supply isn't enough for the installer.

I understand that the installer is the only way to distribute the files but is there any way to make this installer less processor and power intensive or even just make a LITE version of the installer for people who's systems can't handle that amount all that fast. I wouldn't mind a few hour install just as long as i knew it would actually install and not shut my PC down halfway through.

Thanks for taking the time to look through this,

AK

2) Clean out the dust, hope that it's that and not your PSU going bad

3) Reapply thermal paste to your CPU

I'm not trying to be mean, but it's *not* the installer. Something is amiss with your rig.

Basically what TJ said, the installer uses a TON of CPU power, if your computer is shutting down, it means your cooling isn't up to par with your processor.

The hours long installation of TTW had my a8-7650k at 100% with a toasty 92degrees, I'm running the AC during a 68degree day, this is second try after my rig bsod'd when I was having a break watching it.
