PS I can have a sniper rifle from level 1? That's swell!

yes, but bear in mind that it's in poor condition, has a limited stock of ammo, and is a high-skill req gun.  i mostly just dump it somewhere until i hit about 60 guns skill

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

Another spoiler for the Wasteland Survival Guide Mirelurk quest:

[collapsed title=Spoiler] There is a hidden entrance to the Anchorage Memorial that is underwater through a large pipe. If you follow the path down to the rocks overlooking the water with a view of Dukov's place on your left, the pipe entrance will be right in front of you. The entrance is not locked and there are no mirelurks anywhere near the first egg sack you'll come to. The only issue is radiation, especially if you're using any mod that increases radiation levels.
In Point Lookout there are the fossilized remains of a T-Rex sitting just south of the Coastal Grotto, under a Buoy, there is also a safe, a gun and a few ammo boxes.
This is fairly well known, but less well known is the fact that there's special loot under ALL the buoys.

Buoy 1 - A sunken boat, a safe, a first aid box, some metal boxes, and a footlocker.

Buoy 2 - A T-Rex skeleton, a human skeleton, a safe, some ammo boxes, and a lever-action rifle.

Buoy 3 - A safe, a first aid box, a desk, and a couple chairs.

Buoy 4 - A refrigerator, a footlocker, a safe, and some ammo boxes.

Buoy 5 - A car, a safe, a trunk, a first aid box, some railroad spikes, a BBQ grill (working!), a camera, and a shopping cart.

Buoy 6 - A safe, a locker, a rake, an ammo box, a suitcase, a first aid box, and a pressure cooker.

Buoy 7 - A sunken ship, a gun cabinet, some metal boxes, a footlocker, and a first aid box.

Buoy 8 - Some mannequins, a safe, a footlocker, a lawn mower, an ammo box, and a mini nuke.

There's a sinkhole in the middle of the swamp too, most people don't realize you can dive into it and find a safe and some other stuff.

Very handy thread, many thanks.  Trying to avoid the "spoiler" bits and just view the hints on gameplay, like being able to drink constantly, and of course tipping Brahmins...

While perhaps a noob observation and not a contribution to "Things you may not know", (because I've not confirmed) but choosing a low charisma in Vault 101 seems to cut any chance of getting a follower in the wasteland -- I have seen no dialog that would lead to asking anyone to follow me, except briefly with Amata on leaving 101 at level 1 and she turned me down.

Charisma has nothing to do with it.The DC follower's require you to have a certain karma allignment to hire them.

This was handy. I always use this entrance now. If you're worried about drowning, I have an oxy-gum mod that allows you to stay under-water longer. However, if you've gone in through this entrance once or twice, it becomes easy to make it without drowning.

TTW-only trick: acquire the Ghoul Mask from Roy Phillips, and you can finish "Come Fly With Me" without killing a single ghoul.

That would certainly make it much easier. I was watching a no-kill run the other day where the guy is doing vanilla NV without killing anything, and he basically put on good armor and just ran past all the ghouls to do Come Fly With Me.

I really don't want to start a new thread for this, figured I'd add to the fountain of knowledge - Sunny Smiles has extra dialogue if you manage to use up all your ammo trying to shoot the empty sarsaparilla bottles. I haven't tried dropping the ammo though.

If you've ever felt lazy when going through container menus, shift+ left or right arrow keys seems to switch between the two inventories with mixed results - it seems quite buggy in that if you do this, sometimes you won't be able to select things with the keyboard until you hover your mouse over an item again.

tp for my bunghole?
