Ini Issues.

Post by paul1222 » Tue Nov 15, 2022 9:12 pm

I placed this on Reddit, but I thought I would put it here too.

I don't use either MO2 or Vortex. I also don't much like the wait times on the TTW Installer, so I've copy and pasted usually. Until recently, that's worked perfectly for me. I did have to clear out my ini files because I tried Dust. But suddenly, it's stopped installing properly. I went through the installation and the FalloutCustom.ini was MIA. I've put in the settings on here, is there meant to be anything else in that manually created Ini File other than what's on the FAQ?

My FalloutCustom.ini looks like this:
SpoilerShow

Code: Select all

[Audio]
bUseAudioDebugInformation=0
iAudioCacheSize=8192
iMaxSizeForCachedSound=1024

[BackgroundLoad]
bBackgroundCellLoads=1
bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=1

[Controls]
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0

[Display]
bFull Screen=1

[General]
bPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1
bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=4
SCharGenQuest=001FFFF8
SIntroMovie=

[Grass]
fGrassStartFadeDistance=7000
The "SCharGenQuest=001FFFF8" line is probably the most important thing for TTW.

Thank you. But I'm afraid that it's not actually solved the underlying problems with my game. Which I thought it would. Catherine's legs are surrounded by the pink triangles. If I go to the 'walk' portion, I'm surrounded by them and I can't use the Special Book.

Pink surfaces are a sign of missing textures, just as red exclamation marks are a sign of missing meshes. Maybe your archive invalidation wasn't done properly or there are missing resources caused by an incomplete TTW installation.

The archive section in FalloutPrefs.ini looks like this for me:
SpoilerShow

Code: Select all

[Archive]
SInvalidationFile=
iRetainFilenameOffsetTable=1
iRetainFilenameStringTable=1
iRetainDirectoryStringTable=1
bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
bUseArchives=1
SArchiveList=ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa,  Fallout - Misc.bsa, Fallout3 - MenuVoices.bsa, Fallout3 - Sound.bsa, Fallout3 - Voices.bsa
For archive invalidation I use Archive Invalidation Invalidated. Only use the "ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa", NOT the [Archive] block documented on the Nexus page. This block isn't for TTW!
"ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa" needs to be added to "SArchiveList" as shown above.

It means you have leftover crap in your data folder, manually delete it and reinstall.
