Should I use a new GPU?

I bought an LG gaming monitor, and it will arrive soon. (144hz, free sync support, curved a little, 1080p, hdr, ips and so on)
should I replace my 3gb 1060 to play TTW with that monitor at almost constant 60fps?

I've been running TTW3 with NVIDIA GTX 970 3.5GB and more recently with GTX 1660 Ti 6GB OC, at FullHD resolutions, and there are still quite noticeable occasional framerate drops well below 60 every now and then. Latest GPU upgrade practically doubled my FPS benchmark numbers in test software (Propably could even play games in 4K with the 1660 Ti reasonably well), but FNV/TTW3 performance seems totally unchanged - I guess the FNV game engine is in some way just too limited to gain any noticeable performance boost from the added GPU power.

My guess would be that the 1060 3GB is already plenty powerful enough GPU to run TTW3 as well as the old game engine can manage, any added GPU power propably would not help.. An upgrade would be better justified if you also play (or in the near future will play) some newer more demanding games (like frex Cyberpunk 2077 maybe).

Not sure what games should I play except TTW. Might play WC3 reforged when it comes out, if devs handle the campaign 'the founding of Durotar' well. If PoE were less complicated and didn't have broken economy (1ex=130ish chaos?) I would keep playing it.

Bethesda games are often cpu limited more than gpu limited. I was using my 1050Ti in an older system, an A6 APU, and it was considerably slower than it is in my current system, an FX-6300. People get by on even older, slower gpus, but with much beefier cpus.

Even integrated graphics, can do 30fps on high at 900p.

With a beefy enough CPU. My AMD A6 APU would stuggle with it's whimpy two cores and integrated video. I was thankful for 20-something FPS at 1024x640 on medium settings. If I was in a good area, I could top out at about 32 FPS.

When I stuck the 1050Ti in and disabled the integrated video, I didn't do much better. Maybe in the 30s for 1280x720 on high settings. It wasn't until I put it in a system with an FX-6300 that I finally got good speed from Fallout/Skyrim.

I did not change the CPU (i5 3570K quad core running stable at 3.8Ghz instead of the stock 3.4) when I upgraded the GPU from 970 to 1660 Ti. Normally, an i5 3570K should be good enough for 1660 Ti (but propably not so good choice for much more powerful GPUs than 1660 Ti), no bottlenecking issues for the combination AFAIK.

In FNV/TTW3, I cannot see any difference in game performance after the GPU upgrade - Which means it is still mostly around 60FPS and smooth in general but with occasional framerate drops every now and then, still perfectly playable though (just like it was before the GPU upgrade). Dunno if CPU upgrade would help at all in my case with FNV performance; propably not going to find out anytime soon either, because a new CPU would have to come with a new motherboard, new set of of RAM sticks and might force me to install an OS version I do not want (not a fan of Windows 10).

If you normally get 60 FPS with only an occasional hitch, you're probably as good as you're gonna get. Maybe eliminate a little of the hitches by going to an SSD (if you haven't already).
