Watch out for "Mod Drop" before they get TTW!

Post by EnderDragonFire » Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:30 am

In case any of you are unaware, "mod drop" is a site dedicated to illegally hosting people's mods without their permission. They are *proud* to be copyright violators, and have taken mod piracy to a whole new level. Since they have no regard for copyright anyway, I would not be surprised if they don't try to host TTW at some point, complete with Fallout 3 assets. I would ask the TTW team to please *be vigilant* about this; they could wind up getting you guys in trouble with their stupidity. I would hate for any more mod authors to get caught up in this mess, least of all you!

Other people have explained this better on YouTube and Reddit than I can:

If you happen to, for some reason, think this is NOT a problem and/or is legal, I suggest reading this post by Dark0ne (the owner and admin of Nexusmods):

UPDATE: Apparently, they are already hosting (cleaned) Skyrim DLC files on there! Holy crap. So, the fact that they are willing to host Bethesda's files is a forgone conclusion. Which makes TTW an even more likely target.

EDIT: AAAND *drop* we have already lost talented mod authors because of this harebrained scheme; Elianora has taken down all of her Fallout 4 mods indefinitely. Good job, Mod Drop! You are *really* helping out the community by driving all of it's talent out and pissing off the people who make the mods!

"Who are you, who do not know your history?"

Well aware of ModDrop, thanks for posting about it however.

We'd rather this particular drama be kept off our forums though. ;)
