Funny arrival in NV.

Post by ElectricMessiah » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:50 am

Bought a ticket to NV from DC with a new TTW char.  "9 Years Later"... Woke up with Doc Mitchell with Jericho facing the wall behind Doc, Dogmeat's nose in Jericho's butt and my face apparently in Dogmeat's but.  Now that is a sight to wake up to.

I'm guessing Dogmeat is in the same 'space' as the awaking Courier.  :/  Was not expecting to 'open my eyes' to that.  0.o

What was cool about the waking scene, is during the white out, I could hear Dogmeat barking.  :)

That was kind of a "Aww... Good Dogmeat."  He waited for me.   Didn't expect Jerecho to still be around, specially with his dialog set unchanged.  lol.  Puts him deeper into the realm of "nutcase".  :D

I laughed out loud reading this thread! I've just started TTW so a loooong way from New Vegas yet, but I'm assuming eventually there will be better integration of followers to FNV?

I'd honestly be cool with them being "fired" and left in the DC wasteland, as long as you could go back after the FNV intro and get them. Or maybe an optional mod that instead placed any followers you had with you during travel somewhere predetermined in the Mojave, story-wise having "parted ways" with you before you got shot (Dogmeat in Goodsprings, Jericho living in an abandoned shack somewhere, etc.) for you to recruit again.

There was a thread on where companions would go when fired if they weren't in their native wastelands. It's something I plan to integrate eventually along with firing them to that location the first time you travel to NV.

Awesome! Though I'd be fine with them going back to DC (except maybe Dogmeat, who should stay in Goodsprings if you had him with you, IMO) since it IS several years later... it'd be a lot cooler to eventually have them sent somewhere in the Mojave as if they settled there after traveling with you.

I figure they'd come with you on the train to the Mojave, then at some point just end up estranged. Maybe Jericho's lung issues got the better of him and he went to rest/find treatment with the Followers? RL-3's power cells died and he's just sitting idle in Vic's shack? Cross found the MW BoS and integrated there? I could easily see most of them drifting off in their own directions when the LW settles into a boring 9-5 as a courier, Dogmeat aside.

Dogmeat, IMO, should be placed somewhere in Doc Mitchell's. He's the one oddball that shouldn't be 'fired' per se, that'd stay with the LW throughout the 9 years of being a courier. Perhaps he ran off to fetch help when Benny captures you, thus revealing where you are to Victor? Maybe Benny shot him too and Doc patched him up in another room?

I'd also like to see Dogmeat and ED-E getting along. Rex is known to hate ED-E, but Dogmeat is entirely indifferent towards robots, so there's no reason for Dogmeat to object.

The only reason Rex or Dogmeat objects is because the game is scripted to let you have one, and only one, humanoid follower and non-humanoid follower each. It's a mechanic limitation, not because Rex and ED-E hate one another.
