Anomaly since the day of original Fallout New Vegas

You can use THROWING SPEAR to fix pool cue (without Jury Rigging), which then can be used to fix expensive 2hand melee weapons with Jury Rigging. So you are spared of the cost 100% fixing cues.

But you can not use THROWING AXE or THROWING KNIFE to do the same thing. These two things are useless: if you dont like throwing weapons (and who would?) you can only sell them away~

Reminder trick for early Repairman, in particular case with Casdin

- Laser pistol/rifle and plasma pistol can be used to repair other expensive guns (with Jury Rigging). So it's economical to repair it to 85% then use for parts. These three can be stocked to use later
- Plasma rifle is expensive so the above trick doesnt work. Either use it to repair itself, or trade with Casdin.
- Grenade Rifle can used to fix G Launcher, also with trick above. GR can be stocked to use later
- G Machinegun, however, can not be used to fix anything other than itself. Fix then sell immediately.
- Same treatment are Gatling laser, Multiplas Rifle, Plasma Caster. They dont have cheap parts to fix, so no value to store at all. Casdin'ed

Travelling to Mojave, we use Benny Humble you and take your stuff mod. So coming there we are cleaned up on equipments. Skills we only have what books and some perks reward. Perk is right out, so no Jury Rigging.

- Break down on some bullets we have enough to create two satchel charges. This overkill the pack of gecko defending the top of the hill in Barton's Fink unmarked quest. But we dont have anything else: sniping them with varmint rifle is asking for a pack on our head. And despite having nail gun, we dont have enough nails or AP to fight them head on.

- Dont know where we pick it up (possible random loot during Goodspring caves) but there's a laser RCW and a plasma rifle. We sell the former and use repair kits on the latter for the coming battle of Goodspring. Fission battery to make SEC, then transform SEC to MFC, then MFC to Overcharge~
+++ Plasma rifle with overcharge MF is about the only way to deal with giant scorpions with high DT. At very early game, i dont have AP bullet to spare on wild life.
+++ Failing that, a RockIt Launcher with Turbo can deal with them, I think. The physic collision is different from bullet calculation.

I take a quick side trip to the hopeville missile silo to get the commisary and some loots. The arc welders and nail guns, fully repaired with wrk, pay for paciencia in novac.

Cheap weapons and armors selling from goodspring to mojave hq gather enough money for That Gun.

The +char booze and barter mag help in reducing price somewhat or i woulndt have enouhg.

Side note.. using slower level mod, i get to novac at lvl6.
Low level mean low level enemies, thus we can use varmint rifle sniping them.. eek.

Paciencia is not overkill because 308 ammo is not cheap. I plan to reserve it for the coming safari. Plus theres a hunting rifle i pick up in novac.

Unless you skip most of the stuff to do around Novac, a varmint rifle isn't going to cut it. You got ghouls and nightkin over at the Repconn plant, the Legion patrols all around, and an insane supermutant killing cows in Novac every night. If you're playing a stealth character, you might be able to sneak your way around some of that.

Which is why i sold my inventory to gather enough cash (12K) for Paciencia, despite picking up a hunting rifle in gun case in Bride house (and trail gun in Andy Bungalow). Even after picking up Ratslayer in Broc Flower Cave on the way to Novac.

Silenced sniping gun is nice but .22 bullet, mang~ And we can only buy .22 HP in small numbers from shops. With Paciencia, at least we can make JSP ammo.

Mind you, I have a service rifle from Ranger Watson in MJV Outpost, I think. a cutdown version of Marksman Carbine, and can still work on Nightkin. Also that Nightkin's Minigun, fixable with WRK and can buy plentiful of ammo. HH nail gun can also do well. So it's not as if we dont have enough tool to do the job. Long range sniping is a lack, not an weakness.

I think this is the time to do a Zion safari, Honest hearts DLC.
+ The time is when we already get Service Rifle from RE loot (NCR troopers), Paciencia. If I want to shop for better weapons from Gun Runners, I totally can cough up all my hoarded loots, crafting items to sell etc...
+ The loot we can get from Zion is about that level of service rifles and its unique, so getting it later feel cheap~ This level range is just right
+ Using Slower level mod, I am currently at 8th. Any wandering in mojave to make level higher than this and the raiders level might just not keep up with me (Paciencia will oneshot them, and Ratslayer silent sniping). So might as well go out some place newer, level up a few times and return to try the fresh new batch of gangsters.

The limit of 100 pound of inventory mean we can bring only a few things, mostly repair kits. Ammo we can break them down into weightless components, and about 100 case of 12.7mm. Guns is That Gun (556 ammo fit the type of guns we will loot in Zion), Paciencia (because this shiny new toy we just bought with great difficulty), Ratslayer, mostly because its scope.

Dont forget a little cash because no jury rigging means pretty hard todo fixing then sell.
+++Looking back, HH can also do in slightly later level because the whitelegs scale with our level. While we shouldnt delay until they start carrying AMR (ridiculously powerful and breaking economy), it probabbly can delay until 15?

Finish Zion. The loot we got from there are .45 pistol and SMG which all are expensive to sell after fixing. The local plants are pretty good, especially Yaoguai meats. Unfortunately, we dont have glowing mushroom to make medallions so it's in fridge for now.

One important thing to note: From Goodsprings to Northern Passage and Zion, with not much side exploration, and we have acquired, rarely, barely, enough components to make one: dartgun, railway rifle, rock it launcher, cryolator. So at least we have something to use with ammo. BUT not using themselves as parts~
+++IF side step into the Union AP station can probably find 2 lawn mower blade to make 2 shiskebab before they get sold in shops.

From that, it's doubtful we ever find enough components, throughout mojave and dlc areas, to make several copies of each type

One important difference between Mojave and Capital Wasteland, in regarding repairman:

There's an abundance of merchants selling 100% new weapons. So with cheap weapons, you can easily get access to freshly minted, and dont have to waste time hiring merchants repair and shopping from them to recover bottlecaps (my fav is Mick).

The difficulty is finding enough expensive loots to repair. But I imagine that's also the same thing in CW early-middle game.

Unlimited (nearly) supply of Sugar Bombs

No need to visit Sierra Madre to open up trading for it. You just tip toe into the side room in Abandoned BOS bunker and trade carton/pack of cigarettes for chips, and trade chips for sugar bombs. VOILA!

Considering you can sometimes buy those items in shops, let alone scavenging, they are nearly limitless. Thus, Sugar Bombs!

In Mojave there are uses for it, most important would be making a heavy Trail Mix, requiring other ingredients as well. Mushroom Cloud is not that beneficial but doable. But even so you still can eat it as +AP aid item for short combat use~

If you do two ways import-export, you can use Sugar bombs to exchange for Ultrajet. At 8 to 1 ratio, you are going to need all the sugar bombs you can get, even with trick as this~

On an unrelated note, I can no longer sleep outside in the villa. The only certain bed to rest would be Villa Police Station, sharing space with a skeleton. Annoying. (or next stage, Ruined Store)

On the other hand, rest is not an issue because you can get access to villa clinic. The AutoDoc can eliminate rest demand.
