A new test I made

So, good people, I was testing changing the bodies meshes (heads and bodies models)of all races/custom races to give them a different feeling inside game. I'm still working on it but found a problem that only happens when creating character at Capitol Wasteland. I started in both options and the problem only happened in the recommended choice. So, the problem: the game crashes when I choose a custom race (after pressing the finish button of the character creation), only at Capitol Wasteland, as stated. I'm still trying to look for other conflicts but maybe I can receive some ideas and save a bit of brain on it. I used every Robert model available for males, and mostly T3,T4 and T6 bodies for the females, but as I said the game only crash in the said condition. In Mojave is safe, no crash. I have no other mod activated, just the base TTW and my mod, so I guess its quite easy to pinpoint the trouble. For now I just want to hear, if possible, if there was a nice discussion over this topic before. Just as a side note I created new folders out of the _male one for all the new bodies, only the hands are inside the _male original one. I realized I still need to work on the old guys/ladies, as they still use the original body, that I have not replaced in the _male folder. Of course replacing it there is much easier, but I tried this new way. Thank you for reading. Happy trails!

Fallout 3 requires all races to also have a corresponding child race.

Thank you Roy. I forgot to check child box in one of the new ghoul races I added. I'll test and see if everything is fine. I had already changed all activators to be usable by children, so I was aware of problems linked to child race. but your advice will certainly make me solve it faster. I'll report later if everything is fine.

Being usable by children isn't the issue. The issue is that there are times in FO3 when characters physically change back and forth between BEING a child and being an adult. The whole start in the vault, for example. All the different races in the vault have kids that then grow up to adults. If you change any of those races so they don't have a child record linked in the adult record, it'll blow up as the game tries to switch folks of that race between kids and adults.

I managed to fix the problem, but only making sure all races had the corresponding children/old race (that I was aware, but was a nice point to focus as you people said) was not enough, it was still crashing. So I checked another mod that did the same thing (like the shojo race) and only found a simple difference, it had the young race (linked to the custom race I was using) linked no another younger one (real children), that had another old race linked to it. I made as that and it worked.

Yeah, if you're playing as a child (which seems implied as you mentioned making things usable by children), you need an even younger race to keep from crashing. Conversely, if you're playing as an old fogy, you need an even older race. Child-Adult-Elder is all relative to the age of the character you're playing. If you play as an adult (the default), you see you need those three stages. If you play as a child, you're missing the "child" stage relative to your player state, so you need the even younger child stage.

Thank you for the advice, now is pretty clear for me, I guess I'll not have problem with that matter from now on.
