Wild Wasteland purely for Capital, not Mojave

Post by Laclongquan » Tue May 11, 2021 5:06 am

I find that Wild Wasteland really need something wild and wonderful in Capital Wasteland, not in Mojave, so I'd like to propose some ideas

1. Tittle: 9th Legion Camp
Location on western border, Possibly west of Dunwich building
Actors: around twenty warriors, two commanders, on Legionaire light armor of lowest repair (10%) and melee weapon only (also at 10%). Very high level template.

The two unnamed Legates will state "Caesar order a march to the end of this world, and march we did!" "Ave, True to Caesar!"

The twenty warriors will boast about killing and robbing numerous tribes along the way. There's one expensive 100 Repairman and a high-barter Quartermaster boast a very wide range of goods (no high class weapons and armor)

Background: both a nod at Caesar's Legion, and a nod at historical event way back when. There's a reason for "9th Legion" name. Also a candidate for a mini nuke thrown in if you are ready to expense that cost.

They are NOT of legion faction (raider faction maybe) and killing them wont bring Legion (or anyone else) infamy points.

2. Tittle: Brotherhood on Eastern Front
Location on western border of the map, possibly west, southwest of Girdershade.

Actors: two Brotherhood unnamed soldier crouching behind some big rock. Equipment is normal leather and melee weapon. Stat of very high level, 100 sneak. One of them provide repair service (75%), Another can heal and sell combat drugs (expensively).

When asked they will state "We are from Chicago." "We come bearing news from The Lost Chapter" "Travel by air sucks!" "We lose our ways in the hills and seperated from our main detachment."

3. Tittle: A legendary figure
Location on certain bars (ninth circle, muddy hole, and moriarty saloon) around Capital Wasteland.

A rugged figure in lightweight leather armor, armed with 10mm SMG, sitting in a bar drinking. Stat of veryhigh level, spec the SMG shooter build. If become hostile, he run like hell for the door.

When asked he will mention "Hello, my name's Ian." "I come from Western Coast." "I like to wander, see new places." "Oh noes, not another Vault Dweller." "Since we are not comrades, I wont burst into your back... Just joking~"

He can sell *all* kind of AP ammo with very expensive price.

4. Journey East

Marcus , Tabitha , Ian, Cassidy , and a ladden brahmin sitting around a campfire. Marcus and Tabitha are loudly argue the benefits and failure of Master's plan. They all expecting THE PLAN will work better in Eastern land than the accursed West Coast.

Ian and Cassidy discuss which various type of alcohol taste better: Moonshine, Whiskey, Vodka, Gamma Gulp Beer, Roentgen Rum, Rum and Nuka, Rot Gut, Mutfruid Marinade, Brain Freeze, Centaur Shangrila

Both a nod at old and legendary figures of Fallout lore... and a nod at the literature Journey West.

5. Reinforce The Hot Gate

There is a lone BOS figure on top of a small winding road UP (so that other actors can only go straight at him instead of surround). BOS power armor, with Bumper sword. Template melee fighter.

When PC talk with Leonidas he will speak 3 times "Where is the rest, Athenian? This is the Hot Gate." "Wind of War is blowing." "Here come the Persians!"

At the third time a group of 5 leveled SM (also melee equipment, melee template) will spawn down the road and run up to him.

If Leonidas survive, he will go to each SM corpse and do the stomp animation, saying "This is SPAARTAAA!"

After that he will stand on top of the road, speaking on Talk "Thank you, Athenian. You finally come."

Background: The Spartan force at Thermopylae stop the persian invasion force . They died to the last man waiting for the not-coming Athenian reinforcement. A classic legend. This Special Encounter also link nicely with the achievement "Even a God King can bleed".

6. Apocalypse NOW!

Trigger: On the way toward Raven Rock, before RR is destroyed.

Event: 10 vertibirds in a V shape flying toward Citadel direction. If possible, music "Ride of Valkyries" will sound 5 seconds before they appear until 5sec after they disappear.

A nod toward the the same name movie, a classic visual for heli carry troops to battlefield.

Also a special chance for anyone prepare enough with Turbo to shoot from one side to another. Considering nuke explosion will destroy nearby planes, you have a chance to bag 10 vertibird in one encounter.

7. Escape from the 80s.

Trigger: On the western edge of the map. possibly west of Shale bridge or Girdershade

Event: Stella (using stella honest heart template) and a Deputy Sheriff (normal mercenary template) are being shot by a bunch (5-6) of 80s (White Leg template but wearing gecko backed leather/metal armors).

If saved successful, Stella and Deputy Sheriff can trade some Mojave native plants (carried on her inventory, barter at base value), say goodbye and escape to western direction (vanish)

80s corpses also carry Mojave plants and animal meats.

Background: Stella in the Cave to Northern Passage, HH dlc, mention something about being chased by 80s, once, before getting bored of being sheriff and move to mojave. THIS event recreate that.

Obviously you can let her die and get her inventory for free. Nothing prevent that. But if you are a storyfag like me, it's possible to save her just for the sake of self satisfaction.

Aren't the 80s a Salt Lake tribe? How could they be in the CW? A little too far from home to be a CW Wild Wasteland event.

80s is much nearer to CW than West Coast~ If we can use West Coast characters here, we can allow 80s to be here~

Seriously, I know this Escape from 80s is a bit too obscure compared to the previous. But well, sometimes we like easter eggs to be obscure

8. A near miss from The Divide Warhead

When you are at western edge, west from Raven Rock, seeing westward.

Event: you see a missile strike (starting from topmost sky position shoot downward) hit at the unreachable map ground. Think visually like a missile hit with a mininuke Tiny Tot. Or the boomers' artillery strike, starting from skyward, but the explosion is Tiny Tot level. The explosion wont reach your position.

Background: THIS should have been a near miss from the Divide missile the Courier supposedly launch.

The point? It's just look cool. A Holy shieeet! moment. Overkill would be not one Tiny Tot, but 8 Tiny Tot.

8. Attack of the 50 foot Woman

Entering the cells of Girdershade, Raven Rocks, Olney, there's one time occurance of a bigger-than-Behemoth Platinum Blonde Woman attack the town. She will appear on the sky and fall to the ground and start stomping around. HP 3000, DR 10.

She will walk around the town twice then stand in place. She will disappear if player leave the cell. If killed, she will self explode into particle and disappear (Operation Anchorage style).

There is a 60s movie of that name, I think. Should fit the theme retrofuturism perfectly.

Why those three towns? They dont have NPC standing in the open, thus reduce the chance of useless interaction between them.

The wild spawns might attack her though, particularly Girdershade is in view of an Enclave camp. Olney has wild deathclaws. Raven Rocks I dont know~
