So Vurt, the amazing modder he is, has released the Flora overhaul for Fallout 3. Now I normally use the Fallout New Vegas version of the overhaul, but this version for Fallout 3 seems so much better than any other Flora mod for Fallout 3. Is it possible for a merged patch to be made with the 2?

So your screeny is just NV Flora or is it FO3 Flora? Or Both? I know for a fact I have the NV Flora installed but my DC wastelands dont look like that at all lol but I do see texture changes with the trees and shrubs that are in FO3, I think.... Looks epic though, more Falloutish/apocalyptic.

Has the FO3 flora mod on, the 'dead' version (there are also 'living' and 'total devastation', imo total devastation looks like the bombs went off under a month ago).

It was Vurt's FO3 mod

It was Vurt's FO3 mod converted for TTW. The LOD doesn't go away when you get close to the trees though, so you get a hires and lores version popping out in the same place. Gave it the axe.

You know I merged both flora

You know I merged both flora overhaul mods, first converted FO3's version and then merged it with NV's version. I could upload it but I suppose I need permission right? I haven't seen if the NV side of things had any issues, though, any ideas on how to check. I'd assume it doesn't this is just world space stuff no scripts or anything of the sort. It took me forever though, NV's version had so many things to renumber. I couldn't use FNVPlugin since it doesn't allow merging between FO3 mods and FNV mods.

to use FNVPlugin utility to merge mods between games you first need to run the TTW conversion scripts on the FO3 mod. Open the mod in the FNV GECK and save. (This will update it's GECK Version) then open the FNV mod with FNVPlugin Utility and use the merge mods feature as normal.

With Vurt releasing this

With Vurt releasing this amazing looking mod, I though give it a go with TTW, and while all the trees and unique grasses are there there's still a reoccurring issue everywhere. Trees are overlapped with their distant LOD textures, making them look quite ugly when up close. Does it have something to do with the game running on NV's engine, because there is a Mojave flora overhaul out there without these problems.

Still looks pretty nice with ugrids set to 7 though, almost reminds me of Stalker.

I started a new game with

I started a new game with this installed and i was wowed. It was a completely different game. It also tended to make the game more difficult just for the fact that there was no guarantee of seeing you enemies from a mile away. Also if you play with no hud it just makes  that more so. I lost count of the time I was just sneaking around and suddenly found my self surrounded by raiders (I'm not sure who was more surprised, them or me).

The game mod doesn't seem to

The game mod doesn't seem to like FNV+allDLC, F3+AllDLC, and TTW being added as its masters and it crashes before the main menu text shows up. I loaded it and my complete load order into FNVedit and there it loads fine with no errors, but once I start FNV.exe it crashes after the legal screens.

DeepSpaceBass, to fix that all I did was open it in FNVEdit and run the conversion script.  Kept the masters the same.  Ran without issue.  If I touched the masters for a moment, I ended up with your same exact problem.  I'm assuming you're referring to the F3 version and not the NV, yes?

Vurt's Flora Overhaul seems to work pretty well when you do not install its lod files.

Just install everything else except the lod meshes.

Also esp does not seem to be necessary, i like the look more without the esp.

I just can't seem to make it

I just can't seem to make it work. In fact, when I run the game it will load and the startscreen will show, but that's as far as it goes. I hear music, but the continue, new game, load etc never shows up.  I usually don't have a lot of trouble with mods and such, but this is unknown territory for me. I just bought both fo3 game of the year edition and new vegas to be able to play TTW...but it's just not the same without the flora overhaul.

I try using the conversion script on this mod and it doesn't save its changes, it'll say "Applying Script.....Done!" but the esp isn't bolded and it doesn't ask to save.

I am getting the LOD issue on pretty much all tree's, I tried to fix it using the GECK but didn't have any success yet. Has anyone else manage to fix it/generate new lod?

So I appear to be having an issue nobody else has brought up... but I have no idea what im doing wrong.

Using both nv and converted f3 flora overhauls  (dead versions) with the lod files deleted to stop the duplicates, but for some bizzare reason im getting many trees in dc that im able to completely walk through as if theyre not there, this is happening without any other mods besides nmc's but that shouldn't be related.

Update: turns out this was an issue with the mod itself, which was recently updated and works fine now :D

I play exclusively with the live versions. What I've found is that, just using 3, first do Vurt's, then put on BA Wasteland as overrides, and they mesh together beautifully. Assuming BA Wasteland doesn't discolor the terrain of the Mohave (I honestly don't know), to get the right effect, do Vurt's Fallout 3 for Fallout 3, then keep Vurt's New Vegas on standby as a graphical patch when you take that train...

I really have no idea where to begin with something like this, but I would like as few plugin files as possible where all I would primarily have to do is DL the assets from both original mods and put in a TTW specific plugin. Could anyone do this?

Hell I haven't even been able to get the mod converted without screwing up the LOD's. The esps themselves only have a few dozen records, so they'd be easy enough to merge. But I don't know what's getting screwed up in the conversion process. I saw somewhere on the forums that deleting the LOD files would resolve the probelm, but that didn't work for me, and each tree has a couple of 2 dimenional trees next to it :/

Yeah only the Total Annahilation version worked for me when I converted it.

 

I have similar problems just using the NV version, I end up with 2D trees.

I tried out overgrown before, it had the same LOD issue as Vurts. I prefer Vurts tree models to Overgrowns though. I'm using a semi merged version of the two, using overgrowns grass with vurts trees, It's a pretty nice combo. May need to darken the grass texture a bit, but overall pretty nice.

On another note I found the file causing the 2D tree LOD issue with vurts. The file is called treedeadlod.dds, located in textures/landscape/trees. 

I also deleted the entire textures/landscape/LOD folder Chuck mentioned.

I've never though to install Flora overhaul for FO3, now I realize I've should have done it a long time ago :D

a couple hundred years of nothing above and considering the DC area was practically swamp land and marshes before people arrived. I'm really like the--as to take a quote from one of my favorite books The World Without Us-- "I was surprised not at the absence of life, but it's sheer vibrance long after humans had abandoned it."

I think that's close :D

Yeah it's not really lore friendly considering the Oasis and all, but I always wanted a game with ruins, but overtaken by nature. This is as close as I think its gonna get :D

So, the only fix to for vurt's is to prevent remove all tree LODs? Regenerating the LODs with GECK seem to result in the same floating trees.

How was this issue solved for the LODs used for TTW?

Well, here's the thing, even with the best green world mods, Oasis is much HEALTHIER. The sounds of insect and plant life, and that of the bird song, are well beyond anything you hear in the general wasteland. After seeing Oasis with all the mods, I realized the Wasteland continues to be a forlorn place, whereas Oasis is peaceful and whole. Which is a shame because I wanted to let Harold die with dignity. Needs of the many and all that.

@Charwo that's a good point. Honestly, even with Vurts Forested edition, the wasteland still feel very wasteland-y. I haven't been to the Oasis yet though.

While I haven't tried it in TTW, I've gotten the best overgrown/Life After People look using Their World, Overgrown World, BA Wasteland and Vurt's FO3. Install order is important, this is the one that seems to work for me:

1. Their World

2. Overgrown World

3. BA_Wasteland

4. Vurt's FO3

The real trick is then in load order which I've found best to be

1. Overgrown World

2. Their World

3. Vurt's FO3

4. BA_Wasteland
