Hear Hear!

Hear Hear!

Now, if we could move on to a more serious topic: when can we expect 3.0 to release?

...I'm kidding. Please don't hurt me, or add another month as punishment; anything but that.

In fact, just ignore this post all together. Good talk everyone.

People don't read, they don't read stickies, they don't read the front page, they don't read mod descriptions and they don't read readme's. Posting it is next to useless because most users think their problems are unique, do no research, and want personal attention.

Actually most people do, I do, but because we don't run into problems because we read and avoid them we have no reason to post here, well except I guess to say thank you, I'll say it now, thank you, and thus we naturally go unaccounted for because we don't make ourselves known.  A silent majority is easy to overlook.

Anyway, you seem really stressed.  Maybe take a break?  Things will get done soon enough.  There is no need to push yourself too hard.  Take it easy, TTW isn't worth the cost of your well being.  Look after your own well being first before thinking about TTW.

I'm just blunt, not stressed or grumpy usually. ;)

Thank you for your kind words, it is always appreciated. You are right, it is easy to overlook the silent majority, I guess it's because the ones who don't are the loudest and that tends to skew viewpoint.

Cheers.

Keep being yourself Roy. Your bluntness and sense of professionalism are actually a little inspiring. In fact, it's an ethos that I feel permeates the team at large, and I commend it. The commentary here is a large part of what draws me to this site day after day; I feel like the people here are a little bit like me, and in an odd way I feel a kinship every time I see one of you guys lay into someone with some hard hitting truth.

...also, on an aside, I'm sure there must be dozens of us that read the stickies and instructions; dozens I say.

They wont answer that

They wont answer that question, as A: its an ongoing project, We can predict when, but only they know, However! an educated guess would be considering there allready working beyond 3.0, would lead to a belief relativly soon. but as most modders allways say, they hate being asked when, as we have to remember, this is not a payed job, labour of love which i have mentioned before. I will give an exmaple check the skse sse64 fourms. they got closed down becuase of it! Im as anxious as the rest of us to see it, but logic is logic, it will be released when more bugs are crushed like rad roaches ^^ also B, when they say its ready is when they will tell us ^^ no half baked from these folks ive found!

DW there a good team from what ive seen and know there shit, its coming, just keep on waiting like me and many others, and we will soon be seeing both wastelands soon enough! (hoping for a nuclear winter if u get my drift ;) )

hi guys, just found an error!

hi guys, just found an error! i was going through the game unmodded (as when 3.0 most fallout 3 mods will need time to be updated) and when you get liberty prime walking from pentagon to the water purfifer, he gets stuck in the buildings, primarly after walking across the bridge, both before the cat walk, and then after. You can force place libery to your pos, but is this error fixed? as it happened several time to me about a year ago. Or is this just me :P

Liberty Prime has always had

Liberty Prime has always had problems with that part of the game, even in vanilla F3. Tho I usually have the problem with him becoming hostile to me for no reason, or getting stuck in the river by walking off the bridge, or just wandering away from the fighting. The AI in Fallout is pretty bad, unfortunately no one has been able to make it any better, so these kinds of problems will probably continue to happen until someone does.

Figured as much. It took me a good hour or two to find the right method of doing it. its the definition of gamebreaking! thankfully the delveopers left in the console commands. But that is only a 50/50 as ive had liberty fall thorugh the floor, get stuck in buildings! Thankfully its not unique just to me!

The best that i've found on

The best that i've found on this is to stay right with Liberty and behind him. It "seems" that IF I stay right on his 6 the whole time he doesn't get "stuck" but if I wander to loot Enclave he does.

That's for me, not sure if that's a "thing" or ...........

I've actually had this

I've actually had this problem with the console version, both PS3 and Xbox 360. Also, I'm thinking of messing around with the F3 uniques in nifskope to make them a bit more unique. Anyways, you guys keep up the great work on v3.

As i say, happens more when

As i say, happens more when ive had PN installed ure right there, but to be sure i blasted through the game to that point un modded and it happened 2 times out of 7 so its rather random! yet with pn (and a fully modded game happens 5 out of 7) why 7? No idea guess i like odd numbers. Its very strange thou how PN would change it, as liberty prime, is that not a scripted event? I'd love to know these things!

Also whats the wild wastelands plugin for? as i know in new vegas you have the odd encounter, but is it to apply that and new events to f03?

Wild Wasteland optional adds

Wild Wasteland optional adds wild wasteland events to Fallout 3. They are pop culture refs mostly.

PN/FWE causes it more because of changes to the AI's awareness distance and time it takes them to swap packages during combat etc, this exacerbates the issue. iirc it get broken completely if one of the paladins dies.

Paladin Vargas. If he dies Prime will just stop and stand there like a slab of meat with mittens. They made a lot of NPC's essential in FO3 but didn't make Vargas essential for some reason.

I had Vargas die once right after leaving the Citadel due to a well placed explosion. The only way to get Prime moving after that was to use console or get him to chase you to the bridge by attacking him and running like hell and hoping he didn't one shot you.

haha, i knew fallout 3 and new vegas had some pretty wierd things going on (trains with legs etc) But thats pretty insane. At least when 3.0 does release i'll have a firm understanding that when modded, pn is gona mess it up unless i make all the paladins essetinal or blitzkrieg the enclave ^^ Thanks roy for the info on both this and the WW optinoal!

so is yukichigai's unofficial

so yukichigai's unofficial patch is redundant right , TTW3 already includes the fixes from what i read on the forms, and will project Nevada (even if it gets patched for TTW3) horribly cause balancing issues

Okay I was reading through

Okay I was reading through all the updates again and the entire thread and I got two questions since doing so.

 1.  I noticed in the .32 ammo optional currently doesn't have any junk rounds for ammo.  Just curious if that was something missed or if .32 jnk rounds just isn't going to be added?  I'm thinking it's the former since no one has commented on it in this thread and it's something that is easily missed.

2.   I see Roy stated "TTW only is including mostly fixes for Fallout 3, I and Tooplex have made a custom TTW YUP version which is sans conflicts with TTW where TTW either needs things that were removed, or are fixed by us."  You've stated this before but have included things from YUP into the updates...so I got to ask if all YUP fixes (or in house fixes) will be integrated in the future down the road.  I know this became a pain in the ass with TTW fixes and one of the reasons why it was eventually dropped however Roy you've also stated you will squash bugs in Fallout 3 and New Vegas in TTW making no difference between them which you stated in "What does the future have in store for TTW?" thread.  So are you guys going to do massive bug fixes on the New Vegas side eventually as well?  Considering New Vegas bug fixing mods are already incompatible with TTW I'm surprised your going to bother patching YUP to be honest instead of just incorporating the fixes into TTW directly down the road.

I'm not including YUP into

I'm not including YUP into TTW, too many permission issues.

Eventually I'll probably end up fixing everything myself except for dialogue stuff as it's extremely tedious to test. I have already found a bunch of static bugs in NV not covered by YUP and YUP has next to no mesh fixes.

Some of the same reasons we will not include UF3P into TTW. I prefer to do everything in house, or requests to others we know for the things I cannot do. This way we can grant open permissions for everything and people can forward or put the fixes in their TTW mods etc.

A bit more of a random question, when will you consider ttw officially done, not the next release, but the mod in it's entirety, what else needs to be done to make the mod perfect

Looking through all these logs makes me realise that you, Roy and the rest of the TTW team are just absolutely fantastic and you guys are the best things since nuka cola. Apparently they need to revamp the installer for some reason. I took a look at the available source since it uses C#, and I can see why they wanted a new one. The variable names alone are a pain in the arse to read.

But as far as I could tell, it doesn't do anything explicitly fancy. It loads the game files into memory, applies a diff patch, then outputs the new ones.

Hell I could hack up something that does the same. I want to know as well; where is the old installer coming up short in functionality?

In a lot of things, but one that we really need and want is the ability to run patches instead of making a new TTW install each time we update. We also need it do download and update with the newest JIP LN version automatically. We need to implement better piracy checks, etc.

In order to keep things as

In order to keep things as legal as possible we need a new installer that patches every asset so we include none with the installer except the assets we've custom made or ones that are in New Vegas already. We also need to copy files multiple times for patching for things like the weapons with mods etc. The BSA's also need to be unpacked, files deleted, replaced, patched and repacked with the proper flags. There are other features we would like to incorporate like transcoding all the audio to the sample rates that New Vegas uses to eliminate the crackling with voice modulation.

Additionally I want it easier to use so I don't have to be a programmer to create an install package, as well as being able to be used for more than just TTW.

Lofty and admirable goals

Lofty and admirable goals with the installer. I am curious though about the team's concerns over piracy. Originally steam was the only show in town, and so detecting piracy I would presume was simply a matter of detecting violated DRM, or oddities present in patched versions. Now with the recent release of DRM free versions via GoG, one would presume most pirates will be opting to use those copies instead. So I suppose my question is, at this point, is it still a reasonable concern on your end to continue trying to detect it given that'll now be tougher than ever, if possible at all?

*Disclaimer: This is not a defense of piracy. Go out and buy the things you enjoy ffs.

So I was going to use the Rock-It Launcher, but when I put junk into it, it seems to be increasing the weight of the weapon or something. I was at 100lbs, put about 50lbs of junk into the weapon and my weight was at 150lbs. It has been a very long time since I have used this weapon, so I'm not sure if this is a vanilla issue. I think it should not be affect your weight or at least reduce the weight of junk used by like 30%.

Does your character have the pack-rat perk which reduces the weight of small items into half? .. I mean, this plausibly might be the cause of this effect - Pack-rat making junk weigh less when it's in your inventory, but no longer applying once the affected junk items have been loaded into the Rock-It Launcher?
