TTW 2.6.3a Released
Happy June everyone, we were shooting for a Memorial Day release, but had to make some extra changes to improve the installer. This new version is mostly installer upgrades to reduce issues and help us troubleshoot the ones that pop up anyway, but it also includes all of the TTW hotfixes and more...
 
 
Post the install log (Documents/My Games/Tale Of Two Wastelands) in this thread if you have any problems.

The next Fallout.

The next Fallout. I'm joking though, it would be tremendously difficult. Everything would have to be done from scratch, but then again TTW will only grow. Maybe the modding teams that are trying to combine skyrim with oblivion and morrowind would join and plenty more. If it happens, I know for sure I'm pitching in! I'll have more experience by then, but even if it doesn't happen you've all done more than enough. Thank you, JaxFirehart and the rest of the TTW team!

You should always upgrade.

You should always upgrade. The changelog will be updated shortly, in the meantime you can check the bug tracker to see recently fixed issues.

Thanks to EVERYONE who works/has worked on this project. It just might be the best thing in gaming ever. Take two games that I am embarrassed to tell some people how many hours I have played them each... and you guys/gals merge them together! I am about 35-40ish hours into my first play through. I have not gone to NV yet and I don't have it heavily moded, just the normal graphic, npc, hud overhaul and Alton, IL for some new land to explore.. but it has ran with only minor issues and all of them I found fixes for on the forum so kudos to everyone involved!

Upgrading now!

Hi folks new member here,  I

Hi folks new member here,  I was told about this impressive project from a friend.  All I can say is WOW.  Not had any issues so far except for a crash when entering Springvale,  I've run Wrye Bash,  Boss and FNVEdit to try and find whats causing it but there do not seem to be any conflicts.  Otherwise the TTW works wonderfully.  For the meantime I simply avoid Springvale and the rest is stable.

I attach my install log to this post.

For what concerns me, this version solves some problems I patched by myself with some work of exporting from fallout3 old files and copying in the data directory and merging patches... I list them hereafter:

1) In 2.4a I had problem on LOD buildings in the Mall. SOLVED;

2) In 2.4a I had problem in entering Old Olney and Presidential metro (entrances that shall be uncovered having BS). I solved it by making a merged patch of BS. Now SOLVED without the need for merged patch;

3) In 2.4a I had problems of some meshes missing in Point Lookot. SOLVED;

4) Meshes missing in Zeta in 2.4a. SOLVED.

The tree LOD problem near Arefu and Casey's Garage. NOT SOLVED. (I solved with an empty tree LOD file and raising LOD distance).

Great work!!! Thank you! The installer is perfect now. If only there would be the possibility to not have to press enter to close each dos box... :)

It's a Windows 8 issue. It's being looked into, but so far a fix hasn't been implimented.

I'm actually having an issue with the download itself; I'll attempt downloading on another browser to double check, but I figured I'd mention something. What size is the final download suppose to be?

WinRAR is not finding a ton of files in the rar file, basically. I'll report back if this is resolved.

Alright, checking back in. Turns out my issue was that I was installing to a deep subfolder so I was getting the 'cannot have file paths over 200 characters' issue, rather than a problem with the download itself. Sorry about that.

No installation errors to report. I will note that I always re-download NV and F3's files fresh for each update, so that might make a difference for folks having trouble.

My fault, there are some VERY long file names in the RAR. Extract it to something like C:\TTW for now. I'm working on a fix to that.

I had same issue I was lucky enough to be in chat at the time to get help since Im hopeless and wouldnt have found a fix myself and Jax helped me lol. Good to see a fix here so people can find it now though that was good of you :-D

I'm not sure if this is an issue or not?

I'm getting the same issue as 'dogsovereasy'. Getting lots of file of unexpected version error messages when building the Fallout3 - MenuVoices module. Everything else works fine.

PS: I would also like to thank the team for their continued support of this project.

I'm also getting these unexpected version errors. My version of Fo3 is the GotY Edition on disc, in English. My errors are happening earlier though, when trying to build Fallout3 - Meshes.

This version of Fo3 worked fine with previous TTW installers.

I'll try using my Fo3 GotY from Steam and see if that has trouble too.
 

EDIT: It does, with the same issues.

EDIT: Lets see if I can finally get this right:

Two install logs are attached. The earlier one is from redoing my first attempt at installing 2.6.3a, and is a file version of what was previously in text in this post. The later one is my most recent attempt at installing it. This second attempt got further for some reason, but still stopped with the same types of errors. Note that I changed some of the locations, and cleaned out the partially built files, before the second attempt.

I'm downloading fresh version of my Steam copies atm.
