Should I buy Fallout 4?

I am a big fan of Power Armors. I am amazed whenever I see Power Armors of Fallout 4. However, as you know, Power Armors of F3 and FNV aren't really cool enough. Especially compared to Elite Riot Gear or Ulysses' duster, they are just like wearable tin cans. Mod like Powered Power Armor still seems buggy and this (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/61299/?) isn't complete yet. Should I buy F4 if I really like Power Armors? Because lack of decent Power Armor-related mods of NV pretty bores me.

Well you will get mixed

Well you will get mixed responses to this question. The power armor, though I don't use PA much myself, is overall pretty cool. So if that's the only reason you are thinking about buying the game then yes it'll probably be worth it to you. But many people do not care for the game itself for numerous reasons. Though personally myself I like the game and can live with it's issues that many just can't seem to get past. Is the game as good as FO3 and FONV or better yet TTW. Well no it isn't. But is it still worth owning and playing? Well I think so. But as I said others will not agree...

Power armor is definitely

Power armor is definitely cool, in Fallout 4 but that's a high price tag for just one, arguably pretty minor feature in the game.

Depends on how much time you

Depends on how much time you have. If you're bored and want a good time-waster, and the cost doesn't bother you, go for it. If your tight on time, or you don't like having progress wasted, wait.

There will inevitably be a goty edition and decent number of bugs should be fixed by then, and the unoffical patch should be out of the stalled state it is in now. The game isn't as compelling in terms of story and characters compared to the last two games and I wouldn't put much stock in bethesda getting its affairs in order any time soon.

No.If Power Armor is the ONLY

No.If Power Armor is the ONLY reason you would buy it,then I wouldnt bother.Because not only is that IMO,a stupid reason to buy a game, but you'd more then likely lose interest. Plus,I'd wait to see if they announce some sort of GOTY edition.

Well it will have to be "Ultimate Edition" or something.  Pretty sure Fallout 4 didn't win any GOTY awards.  Especially not up against Witcher 3, which literally broke the record for the most GOTY awards for a single game.

I enjoyed Fallout 4 quite a bit.  And there are mods out there that fix pretty much all of the minor annoyances.  The addition of a real Survival mode in the 1.5 patch really improves the game.  But you have to play it as a shooter.  If you liked Borderlands 2, you'll like Fallout 4.

But if you go into it expecting a solid RPG experience like Fallout New Vegas, then you'll be disappointed.  Go play the Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 Directors Cut, Divinity Original Sin instead.

Well in case anybody actually

Well in case anybody actually cares.... Right now Steam has FO4 at 50% off making it $29.99. Also all of the DLCs are 25% off.

They actually have all of the Fallout stuff currently on sale...

Edit... Looks like the sale was only for the 4th of July weekend....

I still wouldn't buy it,

I still wouldn't buy it, right now it's just "pretty" and as for the power armor, there are already a few MOD's that copy the FO4 series power armor. The only thing it lacks is a power station and animation when you get in. However I've heard many people complain that it's neat the first few times you get in, Then after that your like "OMG! Hurry up and get in!" I'm sure someone at some point in time will make the animation for New Vegas and probably a loading station, with way more features than in FO4. I've played it and wasn't impressed. They basically took some of the popular MOD's from New Vegas, and gave it a better FX engine. But today if your playing on a PC, you can make New Vegas look just as good if not better. IMO the story line sucks, the map is smaller than New Vegas, and definitely smaller than than Fallout TTW Edition. There is only 2 things it has that New Vegas doesn't, Cogsworth's ability to "say" your name, and a fully voiced main actor. I can't see either one of these options being put into NV without some serious work. As for everything else, including Animated Power Armor NV already has it, or will have it in the very near future.

Well if I didn't already own

Well if I didn't already own it I would still buy it when it was on sale. The game isn't great but IMHO it's still worth owning. I've actually enjoyed it quite a bit even with the above mentioned problems. I'll play it and when I finally do get tired of it then I'll come back to TTW again. But it still has the Nuka World DLC coming so it'll keep me interested for a bit longer for sure. Also there are some really good mods making the game considerably more interesting as well.

Speaking of F04, I think

Speaking of F04, I think there should be at least 2 more DLC area "add-ons" before they move off to their next project; going to be only Far Harbor and Nuka World? I would sure hope they wouldn't cut that short because they were "giving" Skyrim Remastered away to PC owners who bought the Legendary Edition (which they should anyways from a "modders deserve some love" kinda thing). If they did, that would really be poor business practice overall imo. Not so much from a time/ budget angle, but from a... "these gamers/modders are such stupid hero worshipping halfwits, we give them flashing light boxes and "marble world" but take away the stuff that takes us awhile to do, like new areas and content, and not only did they not notice, they're lighting candles down mainstreet in every town for us, while making neon flashing sign mods that say "**** U!" ! Ok, everyone together, let's do a great big... RFLMAO!!!". Ah, such is business these days. Lol

That being said though, I did buy F04 + Season Pass, since I really do like the Fallout universe and have hopes that, in time, it'll be modded into  a better "state".

Well as I said above there

Well as I said above there are actually some really good mods right now. But I think there will be more good mods that will eventually come hopefully once the flap with beth.net and console nitwits finally gets put to bed. But then again who know when that will actually happen.... I guess one of the very well liked FO4 mod authors LordofWar decided he had enough and pulled his mods and said he was quitting. I think he'd had enough of the console jerks bugging and criticizing him not to mention the fact of his mods being stolen....

My recommendation: wait til

My recommendation: wait til the "complete edition" (the one with all offical DLCs) is dirt cheap like Skyrim legendary edition now (around $20 a copy). That's how much FO4 really worth...........

In the mean time, save up for an upgrade of your PC for a good graphic card to play it on (potential) VR

Actually a quick search reveals it has won at least one game of the year award.  http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/02/19/fallout-4-wins-game-of-the-year-a...

And I do mean quick search.  It took me less than 30 seconds to find that.

Anyway I haven't played 4, so I can't give any advice on whether or not to buy it.  I just wanted to correct that.

The fact Fallout 4 won

The fact Fallout 4 won anything is a testament to how bad major game releases have been lately. I just hope and pray Bioware does a good job with Mass Effect: Andromeda and EA doesn't find a way to ruin it. Fallout 4 is the last game I'm ever pre-ordering from Bethesda. It has been nothing but a big disappointment. Maybe they'll let Obsidian make a sequel and we can finally get the game FO4 should've been.

I agree in full.  To add, in addition to a shooter, it is also a tad of mine craft mixed in.  It is definitely a YMMV game.

The other Pet peeve I have

The other Pet peeve I have with FO4 is the Creation Kit. My kids own FO4 for the XBox1, however if you want to use the CK, then you have to OWN a PC copy as well. I thought this made a free tool to tweak your game and extremely pricey "free" tool. =/ So just a heads up for anyone wanting to MOD their copy, you can't unless it's for PC. "Waiting" for an all content package for cheaper does seem to be the best solution.

I agree, the MOD's for it on Bethesda.net are making the game a little more appealing, however the MOD thieving has purrty much ruined it for PS4 Owners. They have to wait even longer until they can figure out how to prevent MOD Jacking.

I thought they were waiting on the PS4 mods because Sony hates the idea and they were only giving FO4 900MB to work with?

That isnt even the reason.I'm pretty sure PS4 user's have to wait longer because Sony is more of a pain in the ass to work with then Microsoft is.Mod stealing has nothing to do with it.

This made me laugh out loud. Wow, it's true.

But hey, if you get Fallout 4, more than a couple TTW developers have mods for it which you may enjoy. I think that the engine is pretty great, and new, and there's a lot of potential in it to make cool stuff. Just... forget that the main story even exists, and you'll be OK.

Hell to tell you the truth I

Hell to tell you the truth I've never bothered yet really with the main story line. I still haven't even made it or even tried to get to the Institute. I've been more into exploring and scavenging and then doing different game or downloaded quests. And then I went to Far Harbor to explore a bit. I'll probably do the same when Nuka World shows up. Maybe after that I'll consider actually trying doing the main storyline and get to the institute.

One such mod that makes the game really fun is War of the Commonwealth. You can then get into all kinds of firefights all over the place. Then there is of course Chuck's great mod Beantown Interiors which makes scavenging fun.

Maybe I sort of misunderstood you a bit with my previous reply. But did you mean a great survival simulator by playing the game in survival mode? Possibly maybe it is but I never play in that mode. I just play at the next most difficult setting.

Well that is true. It is the most difficult setting but certain limitations that are put on you playing at that level are a bit frustrating in my opinion. The most obvious is the fact that you cannot do saves whenever you want. With the new latest update you do get a save when you exit the game. But the game still suffers from many CTDs and you can maybe play for hours and then you crash and you've lost whatever you have accomplished. Yes there are some mods that will allow some kind of save options while in Survival mode or so I've read but saves aren't the only issue. There is of course the issue of the console being disabled. I've played a lot and often I've had to tcl to get unstuck in many different locations. So maybe once they have worked out all of the bugs in the game it'll be something to try but right now I just want to play and not be quite that frustrated.

Yeah, there are plenty of mods to deal with its less than tasteful limitations. Playing with just the one which lets you save from the menu, it's basically the Fallout experience which I want.
