Red Doesn't Stay in Big Town after Being Rescued

Like the title says, after I've completed Big Trouble in Big Town, Red doesn't stay in her clinic instead walks all the way back to her cell in the police headquarters in Germantown. Shorty (the other guy who you rescued), is working fine but Red won't stay in BigTown.

I've reverted to earlier saves and tried a few times with and without Shorty being rescued and still have issues with Red not staying in Big Town.

That happened to me once too.

That happened to me once too. Not sure what causes that, surely a package issue.

I've only actually done that quest once since I started playing TTW, but when I did it on 2.9.4 she stayed in big town.

I can confirm this is still

I can confirm this is still an issue.  I rescued her from the Mutants a long long time ago and saw her in Big Town after they tried to take it back.  I got some free healing from her and bought medical supplies as well.

 

After being away for a long time, I got the Strictly Business quest and it pointed to the police station for her.  I went to Big Town and she was no where to be seen.  So I went to the Police Station and there she was in her cell.  I was able to enslave her and get her to Paradise Falls no problem.  But yeah, she doesn't stay in Big Town after being rescued.

  

I am using 2.9.4.  Steam build for both games.

This is a mod issue, I have specifically tested this several times and in several versions of TTW and Red always works perfectly.

For me Red has always stayed

For me Red has always stayed in Big Town as well, mods or no mods. 

Someone who has this problem needs to open their load order in FNVedit and see which mod is changing Red's packages.  Might be TTW fixes, but impossible to tell until someone has the bug and takes a look.

This is actually a bug in

This is actually a bug in Fallout 3, I just found it. On her "Back To Jail" Package it compares the "rescued" variable is EQUAL to 1 instead of NOT EQUAL... so this would cause it to happen. Apparently the "Get Distance" check doesn't work properly in NV engine on rare occasions, as that is the only variable which seems like it could mess it up. Unless "followingplayer" is not being set correctly at the conclusion of the quest. However I still think it's the first one, as this is clearly wrong.

I've completed the Red quest

I've completed the Red quest 4 times since I started using 2.9.4 and I had this occur for the first time this past weekend. I successfully completed the quest so I didn't really care where she wanted to go at that point. :P

Twice I completed the quest by activating the dormant robots to defend the town, once I taught them to shoot, and the most recent time I taught them to shoot. I don't think that has any real bearing on why she decided to take a stroll this time though. /shrug

I've completed the rescue, defend and Timebomb quests and Red stays in Bigtown until I trade with her. Prior to trading her package is 36, immediately after trading it's 14. I don't know what the 36 and 14 mean, in FNvedit the back to jail package is 0A09D233. And to confuse me even further her editor ID is 0A025251 while in-game it's 0A025252. This 0A025252 number is in her package/condition "RedRef [ACHR:0A025252] (places Red "Red" [NPC_:0A025251] in GRUP Cell Persistent Children of BigTownRedClinic "Big Town, Red's Clinic" [CELL:0A024D78])".

At this point it's over my head, ok. it's mostly all over my head but I gotta try.

 

Edit: sorry wrong console commands. "Getcurrentpackage" returns 0002FBC4 before trading, and 0A02ABA3 after trading. 0002FBC4 is BigTownRedServices10x12 and 0A02ABA3 is MS01RedLockedUp. Disabling TTWreputations fixes it so nevemind.

I am Getting this bug in 2018

I am Getting this bug in 2018, RED keeps returning to Jail Cell, even thou she is equipped in enclave Hellfire Armor & 5.56 LMG , she stays there, I suppose it is safe ... I can get her to bigtown, for a checkup, with PRID 0a025252, then, moveto player, BUT then she starts trek back to Jail cell ...  T2W ver 2.9.4, I have the fixes, done all bigtown"quests" with functioning Robots, this time ... I suppose Red is Doing a combat patrol ...

I've run into a number of issues with Big Town, like the robots being fixed before you fix them. I haven't seen that one, but maybe like the robot issue, it only occurs when you take a particular path to the final showdown with the SMs. Maybe try doing a different option and see if it works.

She'll probably still go back there, I don't know how it ever worked even in Fallout 3 actually the way the package conditions are set up.

You guys can try this until 3.0 comes out. It works for me, but probably only if red is still at big town.

It relies on TTW Reputations. It removes the embedded script from TTW Reputations from Reds dialog and changes an equalto-notequalto in her back to jail package.

Thanks to all, I may look at just ignoring it, until I update to 3.0, but I will look at Trm8r's fix, if it lets me continue current game ... From what I gleaned from Trm8r's Post was get RED back to Bigtown, save game, install RED fix, re-load game to be safe, or did I miss something ?

James T. If we have TTW Reputatiions installed and if we barter with Red after saving Bigtown, it will change Reds package from being a doctor to being a prisoner. So I think my fix will only work if it's installed before we barter with Red.

If she's reverted back to her jail package then you'll have to get creative and it may not be possible to change it back.(without a new mod). Maybe there's a console command. Maybe try kill-resurrect or disable-enable. "Getcurrentpackage" will tell what her package is. Her barter package is 0002FBC4.

It's because reps has variables declared in dialogue result scripts, which is known bad thing to do because it overwrites the quest variables.

OK I have a fix, Console commands, get RED to Bigtown with "PRID 0a025252", then "moveto player", then in console, click on her, type "addscriptpackage 0002fbc4", get out of console, talk to her, leave chat, and she turns around & heads back to Bigtown Clinic ...

 

P.S, thanks to ALL who gave me clues where to look ..
