No music in Broken Steel

Hey guys,

Just started the broken steel DLC and noticed that there in no background music. I haven't checked any other DLC as of yet. I am not using any mods and I am using the recommend load order.

EDIT:

Also, a whole wack of people have no voices: Ghouls for old Olney, Griffon in Underworld, random people in project purity, Enclave repair guy.

I second this, during BS
I second this, during BS there was no music at all. I also recall the enclave repair guy having no voice whatsoever. And last, well known: where the hell is Hellfire PA at?

I have similar issues but I

I have similar issues but I run with quite a large number of mods. If you have any mods installed this should NOT be in the bugtracker.

Read the ORANGE writing at the top of the bugtracker before posting please.

Well plumjuice, I am well

Well plumjuice, I am well aware of the large ORANGE writing at the top. I, however, am running no mods other then TTW itself. Therefore, there is some sort of issue. =]

Fair enough. I'm on a break

Fair enough. I'm on a break from Fallout atm, but I remember that the 2 ghouls (wint and kidd) in old olney didn't have voices, as well as an engineer in the Enclave Mobile.

I don't remember missing music, but I probably just didn't notice. Maybe it is just npc's that were Broken Steel exclusive?

Also, apologies to behemoth, I was rather snappy without cause. My bad.

It's quite alright plumjuice,

It's quite alright plumjuice, I'm not butthurt from your post.

I had the same issue as well with the ghouls in Old Olney. There also seems to be no music and no voices for a bunch of people in project purity as well. Also, Griffon in underworld has no voice.

I would also like to add that The Pitt has no music either. No voice issues to report as of yet.

Looking into the music issue

Looking into the music issue with The Pitt; in the region editor, music type is set as default. I think this maybe were the problem is some what based.  All DLC use this. This is really strange. Event trigger or some type of music trigger?

New Vegas changed the way

New Vegas changed the way music is handled. Audio markers need to be placed in every cell in the game and they tell the game what music should play. Sesom did this for DC, but nobody has gotten around to doing it for DLC locations.

Thanks Jaxhart for the info.

Thanks Jaxhart for the info. I've been going through and adding audio markers to my game and they work like a charm. I'll post up my quick fix if anyone else needs it.

Post it. If it's quality work

Post it. If it's quality work, (proper audio for the area and such) which I'm sure it is, it's a start on getting it done in the DLCs.

I managed to fix Griffions

I managed to fix Griffions voice in Broken Steel (I may have fixed other as well, not sure). I did this by extracting the data in the Broken Steel - Main.esm and pasting the voice file in the data/sounds file section. I'm still trying to figure out the scribe voice issues as well as others.

I've fixed the music for BS, I'll have that posted later today.

I tried posting this once

I tried posting this once seemed to not work :(

I wanted to come by and say I'm a new user for TTW and I'm loving all the work you have done.  However, I am missing a significant number of voices post project purity.  The people involved in the water caravan quests in particular are the only ones I tried to do so far.  I found the tape that was supposed to be on a dead person that raided the caravan and that tape was missing voices, along with the leader of the raiders.  So I was a bit surprised to learn there was an option to try to be hired by him since I never heard the tape :)

Thanks for all your work and I'm looking forward to some form of fix for this.

Hey Xavier,

Hey Xavier,

I'm working on the issue right now, there appears to be a bunch of path issues for the audio files. I'll post something up when I'm done. :)

You just uploaded game files

You just uploaded game files from Broken Steel, that is a HUGE problem. They are removed now.

Do NOT upload any copyright files, anywhere, ever.

Sorry Jax! I'll just do a

Sorry Jax! I'll just do a write up on how to manually fix it then, as I have no clue how to change dialog audio paths in the GECK.

Unfortunately you can't

Unfortunately you can't change the paths and the issue was my fault to begin with, the previous installer forgot to change BrokenSteel's voices. To fix it, extract sound\voice\brokensteel.esm from BrokenSteel - Main.bsa and change the folder names like so:

CreatureFeralGhoul -> CreatureFeralGhoulDC
CreatureGhoul -> CreatureGhoulDC
CreatureSuperMutant -> CreatureSuperMutantDC
FemaleAdult01Default -> FemaleAdult13
FemaleAdult02 -> FemaleAdult14
FemaleAdult04 -> FemaleAdult15
FemaleChild01 -> FemaleChild03
FemaleGenericGhoul -> FemaleGenericGhoulDC
FemaleGroupEnclave -> FemaleGroupEnclaveDC
FemaleGroupRaider -> FemaleGroupRaiderDC
FemaleOld01 -> FemaleOld04
MaleAdult01Default -> MaleAdult13
MaleAdult01DefaultB -> MaleAdult14
MaleAdult02 -> MaleAdult15
MaleAdult04 -> MaleAdult16
MaleAdult05 -> MaleAdult17
MaleAdult06 -> MaleAdult18
MaleChild01 -> MaleChild03
MaleGenericGhoul -> MaleGenericGhoulDC
MaleGroupEnclave -> MaleGroupEnclaveDC
MaleGroupRaider -> MaleGroupRaiderDC
MaleOld01 -> MaleOld03
RobotMisterGutsy -> RobotMisterGutsy02
RobotMisterHandy -> RobotMisterHandy02
RobotProtectron -> RobotProtectron02
RobotRoboBrain -> RobotRoboBrain02
RobotSentryBot -> RobotSentryBot02

Not all of the folders listed above are guaranteed to even exist, but those that do need their folder names changed. I am working on an updated installer for the next version that will fix this automatically, but I can't begin to guess a release date.

Thanks for that Jax! That is

Thanks for that Jax! That is exactly what I did yesterday.

It would have been nice to see this sooner, but since it wasn't posted, it has forced me to learn how to use the GECK and I thank you for that.

Ok, this is cool, I managed

Ok, this is cool, I managed to figure out how to download BSAopt, and extract from the file, I even found the folders that need the name changed.  However, I am unsure what to do with them after that.  Do I need to repack them somehow? Which I'm not sure how to do that with the program, or do I just put them into the audio folder that's in the Data?

I was sorta hoping for an esp that could do this for me, but I guess the one he posted isn't supposed to be used?

None the less, thanks again for all your work.

Does this fix voicelines for

Does this fix voicelines for NPCs as well? Also, I need a version without Caravan packs, if possible.

There is a thread discussing

There is a thread discussing whether we should include or exclude the Caravan DLC and it was determined that everyone might as well have it instead of having to work around people having or not having the Caravan DLC.

Hope this helps...

Well that actually changed.

Well that actually changed. The newest version does NOT require the Stash packs but DOES benefit from them, best of both worlds really.

Heavytron: If you read the thread I made a post detailing how to fix the Broken steel voices while waiting for the next version in which it IS fixed.

in your Data folder you

in your Data folder you should have the following subfolders: sound\voice\brokensteel.esm\

Within that folder is a list of voice types (each is given their own folder) you don't have to move them, just rename them as I said in the earlier post.

Before doing this you have to extract them from the BrokenSteel - Main.bsa.
