Next Update?

I noticed thats its been about 5 months since the last update, so I'm wondering if theres a date for the next update, looking through the updates i notice theres a 2-3 month time period between each one, so I'm just wondering if the next one is being worked on and if it has an estimated time til release or if you guys are taking a break

there was just one at the end of July if you payed super attention to the change in letters at the end of the version name (a to b that is).

the current date for the next update is "when it's done".  if we were taking a break, rest assured that information would be publicly posted for everyone to see.

We don't have a hard date for the next release. A lot of it is done, but there's still stuff to be tested and fixed. It should have some good stuff in it though.

Thank you, team, for your continuing work. If my experience in software dev is applicable, the bug fixing, etc. becomes a lot more labor intensive as things mature because you've already dealt with the low hanging fruit and the showstoppers. Then there's the fact that you're working on other projects and supporting the forums. TTW is already very, very, good. I can wait however long it takes for it to get better.

It is taking a while because

It is taking a while because most of the work done to it for the next version was made from scratch, each single follower of both games were edited, there were and might still be (still testing and keep finding bugs) plenty of bugs and the most annoying thing was that when we moved repositories for some unknown reason that no one on the team have any idea why, some fixes and changes that were made in older versions were not there anymore, so the team has to redo a lot of stuff that was supposed to already be done and to make things worst there is no way of us to know all of the things that were lost, so from time to time a team member finds something that is missing and the team has to fix it, and to finish there is the time people have available to work on TTW at the moment .

Those are the reasons why it is taking so long compared to other releases .

Pretty sure there isnt a problem. They're just implementing the cross wasteland thing in which Follower's get fired to specific locations depending on which Wasteland your in.

The Followers had any number

The Followers had any number of issues, missing packages, full companion wheel support etc. Other features have also been added to bring them in line with NV Followers. The DLC and temporary companions have not been updated yet, in the future.

Ok a few bugs from companions

Ok a few bugs from companions:

Charon would give his perk even if the player had the party full and he wouldn't join.

Charon didn't kill Ahrzukahl because his sequence shotgun was replaced by the follower shotgun weapon.

Dogmeat perk would activate it's function before we even hired him for the first time.

Star Paladin Cross would join even with the maximum party size.

We couldn't hire Clover at all.

Jericho was missing the option of using his perk effect.

Jericho and other followers were not changing weapons when using the wheel to change from/to melee or ranged.

Dogmeat perk description mentions something that doesn't happen.

RL-3 wasn't attacking at all.

Some FO3 follower perks had to be reworked or changed because they were over powered or under powered.

Some FO3 follower perks weren't working as designed or at all.

I am tired of typing so I will cut my list short here.

Now add that only two team members were working on fixing these bugs (most of the team is busy with other stuff and personal life and so on) and only one is testing it, tha tthe tester had to restart a game, go through the FO3 main mission, had to make the Trouble on the Homefront quest in a way that Butch moves to Rivet City, hire every single follower for the first time several times (to see if they are bugged and if they are have to wait for a fix then hire them again for the time to see if the fix was working) use several times or pay attention to see if the follower perks are working have to go to the train station and make it work, catch the train and move to the Mojave Desert, have to get the Lucky 38 and then bring all the followers from FO3 using the train and firing them to the lucky 38 and then go and see if they are there, rehire them, fire them again without say the lucky 38 and then scour the NV wasteland and see if they are in their assigned places without cheats because cheats might make the game behave strangely and might provoke bugs in some ways.

This stuff takes a long time, specially when the tester has to wait for a fix and can't continue testing and also because I have been busy with real life (that is why I also asked to stop being a moderator around here, I just do not have the time). Life Happens.

Yeah I am one of the reasons why the next TTW release is taking a bit. Mwahahahaha

Dogmeat had no follow far package.

None of the companions had wheel support or voice for swapping weapon type, firing and a few other things.

Charon actually kept his scene shotgun at all times, and would not use weapons you gave him.

There's a lot of other stuff I don't remember either.

This answers the question I've been asking myself for three months.

I have not seen any of the perks being displayed from the FO3 companions, nor have I spotted the vast majority of their bugs. As for old bug fixes disappearing, I noticed this with Rivet City.
