How have you kept busy?

With the Fallout 4 release roughly 8 weeks away (according to my horrible time frame on my calendar) I wanted to know what the community was doing to help pass the time and keep themselves busy.

Since I've been out of work for a while and my truck took has ran into one problem after another, it's been difficult to keep myself interested in any one thing for a long period of time. I've spent a lot of hours with Kotor adding mods and playing constantly on my computer and tablet, also of course TTW and Fallout. But recently I've started to trickle back into playing Swtor and GTA 5 story mode (even after beating it around 3 times this year). So I was interested to see how the everyone is coping and keeping their mind busy while they wait.

Playing the Witcher 1 right

Playing the Witcher 1 right now, then if I have time, the Witcher 2 and 3 as well.

And then there's Wasteland 2 Directors Cut out October 15, so if you haven't played WL2 yet, you should really play it then, in the month leading up to the Fallout 4 release.  WL2 is probably one of the best new games I've played in years.

The Witcher 3 is the best of

The Witcher 3 is the best of the franchise. It just improves upon everything in the second game which improved on everything in the first. It's the game that CD Project Red wanted to make all along but maybe didn't know exactly how.

Testing TTW is one of the

Testing TTW is one of the things that keeps me busy, others include playing a lot of Neverwinter Nights modules at the moment, I was tired of being bored with newer games so I downloaded NWN Diamond edition that have been sitting in my GOG.com account for ages and decided to replay it, but I had already played the campaigns so many times I was getting bored again so I went and downloaded a bunch of modules and have been playing that. I have also been re-playing the campaign of Majesty Gold HD.

So I usually play older games since I get bored with never games and feel like playing some old style games I guess.

The wait isn't hard, there's

The wait isn't hard, there's always plenty of stuff to do. Game wise, after the FO4 announcement, I dived right back into modding after a 3 year break and digging into this incredible TTW thang.

Like Thermador, I distracted myself for a bit with Witcher 3, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have - just was thinking about Fallout too much while playing it. But finish it and it is fantastic. I'll probably go back for new game+ once I've scratched that Fallout itch well and good, and after expansions are out, and really give the game the time and attention it deserves. And it deserves it, I think.

Also been watching a lot of TTW streams. I enjoy seeing how others play the game, listening to them role play, build their characters, and really like seeing well modded games with hot UIs and pretty graphics.

Also started playing Fallout 1 this last weekend, partially inspired by TrickyVein's eloquent post in a different thread, but also just something I've been wanting to do but never got around too. And it seems fitting to dig into it now; figured I'd try to squeeze it and Fallout 2 in before November. I just got to Junktown and am enjoying the game.

Fallout 1 + Fallout FIXT is a

Fallout 1 + Fallout FIXT is a stellar experience, just that one mod is all you really need.

Fallout 2 + the Restoration project is great for the second game, although I added one other mods, the Miria mod which makes her a full party member instead of just a half-functional one.

Yeah, I saw your thread in

Yeah, I saw your thread in the Fallout 1 forum and thought about necroing it or starting a new one to ask questions/get advice on my playthrough, but wanted to make sure I was going to stick to it first.

I thought about modding, but the purist in me won out, regardless of how irrational the decision was. I want to see, warts and all, Fallout 1 and 2 in their birthday suits.

Prepare to be disappointed, lol.  Those "mods" are primarily bugfixes and updates to make the games run smoothly on newer systems.  Both have installers that allow you to pick what parts you want to install, and how much you want to change the original game, so if you want to leave out the additional content you can.

Family, Career, TTW, My Home

Family, Career, TTW, My Home Computer Lab (just added a Juniper SRX210 Firewall), Play by Post Pathfinder (Paizo's DnD), and a few other things here and there. Once the FO4 GECK comes out, I am going to jump right into that.

Beyond my day job and life, I

Beyond my day job and life, I've been reading up for a cert exam. Besides TTW, I've been playing a minecraft modpack i threw together, and lots of BL2 as well. Almost have all 6 classes up to 72, but the OP challenge is fucking hard at the higher levels...    Also marking off the days until 4's release, obviously.

Learning to mod TTW. I modded

Learning to mod TTW. I modded the venerable Morrowind years back, which was fine as long as I didn't mind being the 500th person to create an overpowered set of Light Armor.  Though most of the basics remain the same, things have changed a bit since then. Scripting is worlds better. Retexturing is still fairly simple. A first pass at importing a new mesh created in Blender suggests that there are more Bethesda-specific nodes in the .nif format these days. Sigh. I have the feeling that if I work very hard on importing meshes I may have it down pat by the time FO4 (With all DLCs) is on a Steam sale for $29.95.

you're doing better than me, i can barely do anything with meshes and there's no way i can create new ones.  i can't even draw a stick figure without being utterly disappointed in my skills

Looks like I am going to have to keep busy for a bit more ... oh well.  Maybe some of the major bugs will be addressed by then.

Oh it's not that, it is more

Oh it's not that, it is more keeping the peace and being a role model for my daughter.   However, my wife know she better get the game for me because I will just go purchase it anyway after Christmas when I have had enough waiting.  I haven't hit too many bugs that have been show stoppers.  The biggest ones were in MMO Raids when certain things did not drop or a condition or event was supposed to occur.

Witcher 3 is so awesome!  I can not wait until CD Project Red releases their Cyberpunk game.   Too bad they didn't have the license for Fallout.  What I saw and felt in Witcher 3 is the role playing I yearned for in Fallout 4.

Since somebody else necro'd this, thought I'd ask how that worked out for you?  Just picked up FO4 for, yes you guessed it $29.95, though believe it was on sale earlier.  Not going to install it quite yet, have so much TTW to explore. Now if I could only find where to get my implants implanted.  No spoilers, thanks gentlemen!
