@TrickyVein I am personally

@TrickyVein I am personally trying really hard to think positive about the DLC. They have said that Far Harbor will be larger than any other DLC they have ever made for their games. I am hoping that maybe it will have enough content to justify that outrageous price. If it has at least two-thirds the same amount of content as the base game, the price would actually be reasonable.

They said that the Far harbor

They said that the Far harbor DLC has the biggest landmass, not that it was the biggest , it might have giant empty spaces or be a very big map but only have a few locations worthy to be explored.

I hope it won't be like that, otherwise they would be charging a lot of money for a DLC that would have a giant map but be frustrating to explore .

I have not entirely lost

I have not entirely lost faith in Bethesda. I will wait and see what happens with these DLC first.

The Quest will likely be top

The Quest will likely be top quality; most of the non-radiant, non-main quests in Bethesda game usually are. And the new follower seems quite different form what Robco certified/ Robot Home Defence are doing.

As for the Mechanist it is

As for the Mechanist it is widely speculated on other forums that he is the boy from Canterbury Commons that would watch the fight between the (original) Mechanist and the Antagonizer all grown up.

We'll have to see when it comes out.

Edit: As far as building Robot Companions All I really want to do is make an ED-E 2.0

I do think the quest will be good and probably funny. I'm looking forward to Robobrains being back in the game!!!! It was a big disappointment for me that they were left out but maybe this was always Beth's plan all along. ( I do like Assulttrons but there really not a replacement for Robobrains. )

And like I said if I can make a new ED-E I'll be happy with the DLC even knowing it won't have the same personality I've come to love from the original ED-E.

Let's just hope they dial

Let's just hope they dial down the radiant quests... "General, robots have attacked a settlement" etc.

There really should be a game setting or INI setting to just disable all radiant quests...

Try this Therm, it sets the Minutemen radiant quests to one at a time. The big issue in vanilla is that they are set to 3 by default and Preston is forced to spam them as soon as you finish one.

I haven't finished a game with it installed so I don't know if it will have issues end game but it has made the MM bearable for me so far.

According to a leak,which may

According to a leak, which may or may not be true, the Mechanist has no relation to the one from 3 in any way.In fact, the mechanist is supposedly female and not male. And,you also cant build any eye bot's either. So no ED-E 2.0 for anyone. No idea if this is true or not but it's from some place called Reddit I think it's called? No clue if anything there is legit or not. So,take this with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't trust what I see

I wouldn't trust what I see on Reddit! That place is a cesspool filled with idiots.  Part of me doesn't expect an Eyebot but there is one in the trailer so I'm holding out hope.

Edit: And if you watch the trailer the Mechanist talks at the end and, well HE doesn't have a female voice. So, unless the leak says SHE is using some sort of voice modulation I'm calling B.S.!

There is also a Eyebot Helmet

There is also a Eyebot Helmet in the video and another Eyebot that looks more like the classic ones standing right next to the Mechanist, so I assume there will be Eyebots for sure.

Also the new Mechanist armor is definitely inspired by the old Mechanist armor, so if for some reason Bethesda say later they are not related in any way it would just feel wrong (even his pose is still the same from FO3):

I dressed up as Batman for

I dressed up as Batman for Halloween one year but, last I checked, I'm not related to Adam West. The Mechanist was a comic character in a widely distributed series in the Fallout universe. While I think it would be a more interesting story if the Mechanist in the FO4 DLC turned out to be the kid from Canterbury Commons, he doesn't have to be in any way related to what happened in the Capital Wasteland.

(I do like the FO3 Mechanist costume better. His helmet looks like it was made out of an old trash can.)

I did say "Widely Speculated"

I did say "Widely Speculated" and not "The New Mechanist is the boy from CC"

Edit: I also never said that the Mechanist had to really be the same one from FO3 or even have any connection to him. "Speculation" is about all we have for the next week.  and it can be a fun thing to pass the time with.

I freaking want ED-E 1.0 myself. You know, the actual guy from New Vegas? Somebody should mod him as a follower. Like he gets to Navarro and finds out that what happened to the Enclave and turns around and goes back East.

I am actually looking forward to that stuff. The settlements are the only fun part of this game, in my opinion. Fallout 4 is not such a great RPG but it is quite a good wasteland Sims game.

At this point settlement building is the weakest part of the game. If you'd have asked me two weeks ago, it wouldn't have been. So that said: who knows, maybe they fix it.

I suppose that could be annoying. I simply turned my game back to "Normal" difficulty, although I know there are mods to disable or circumvent some the new features, such as saving and fast travel being disabled.

I'm using all my mods in the beta. I even made a mod specifically for the beta. Also yeah, settlement building didn't just start sucking, it's just worst by default now that the rest of the game is actually enjoyable for me. If they could squeeze just a *little* more Fallout in there it'd be the best, but then again I'm going to always ask for that. We're not their target audience anymore.

Yeah still waiting for the

Yeah still waiting for the final release of Survival mode here.  It looks like a big improvement though.

Bethsoft really blew it on Fallout 4.  They published a game that wasn't feature-complete - arguably an alpha.

They would get better reviews, and sell more copies, by publishing a finished game - even if the game is consequently delayed.

The new DLC is interesting,

The new DLC is interesting, thought the amount of issues it created for the workshop mod users is pretty large. Was easily fixed by other people, but you know how mod users are - clueless.

The added items are fairly interesting, though the concrete styled ones kinda clash with the wooden and metal pieces. The lights are the most interesting of all of them, that and the pacifier+cage. Now you can have a settlement with animal pens and animals (glad I made those railing mods, now I can build pens and other in peace and lock all my meat provisions inside). More roleplay I guess.

But.. if you play on the new survival, looting is no longer encouraged, which means settlement building is going to become an option for less hardcore playthrus. I don't like that.. but hey, what can you do. I for one am going to pick up all the vanilla recipes and change them to more sensible values (20 steel for a metal pole with a light at top is quite dumb). Btw, there will probably be more workshop expansions in the future. Probably each update will provide one or more new items.

Here's to hoping the new DLC coming in May is actually good.

Hey, it's ME!

I'm going to chime in with

I'm going to chime in with some of my observations on Fallout 4 currently.

New Survival mode: Overall a good thing, if they can get rid of the nonsensical sleep-to-save system, and not restrict the console (since it was listed as a "feature") it would be fine.

DLC Automatron: I hear people cry "What did you expect for $9.99?" To which I answer: "Oh I don't know, Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta, Broken Steel, The Pitt, Operation Anchorage, Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, AND Lonesome Road ALL released at $9.99 each, and overall had more content per expansion then Automatron even attempted. Many of these said same DLC even added completely new places to explore. So yeah I expected quite a bit more then what we got, simply because they have shown they can do better.

DLC Wasteland Workshop: Feels like content that was in the works during the games development, but was sidelined and put on a shelf when they needed to make some deadline that they themselves set. Not to mention that other settlement mods, (made without the creation kit) have been doing more and better for months already. This really feels like a lazy cash grab from Bethesda, I'm going to say approaching "Horse Armor" level.

At this point Far Harbor has quite a lot of "living up too do", in my mind for what I will refer to as the first "real" DLC of Fallout 4. With a base $24.99 price tag, they really need to deliver a high quality and in depth piece of work. Now I know some will say: "but Anvil, you should have gotten the season pass man!" I never said I didn't have that, however I'll still look at price VS delivered product on it's own in terms of quality. So far I don't feel I have gotten $15.00 worth of content, it's been very lackluster so far. Far Harbor needs to deliver on the quality end of that content.

Automatron should have been $2.99, the Wasteland Workshop one $1.99.

Somehow I think Far Harbor might reach that $9.99 level of the F3/NV DLC's

New weapons, new quests, new

New weapons, new quests, new followers, new mechanics; Automatron was a good expansion, at least as Operation Anchorage, GRA, or Hearthfire in my opinion. The only problem was the price. It should have carried a 4.99 or even 3.99 price tag and I would have no complaints about it.

Yeah the price is ridiculous.

Yeah the price is ridiculous.  I was thinking, well what about inflation?  Well, U.S. inflation since 2008 has been about 10% total.  So a $10 DLC should cost about $11 today, all else equal.

But that's what Bethesda is... money machine.  Glad I bought the season pass I guess, but ugh.  Doubt I'll play any of the DLC.

First The Witcher 3 has 16

First The Witcher 3 has 16 free DLCs (that range from just some cosmetics to personalize Geralt to alternate looks for some characters, from new quests to new animations, from new equipment to a New Game + mode and more) and now the game Thea: The Awakening also got a free DLC

Here's what's added:

  • Localization to German, French, Polish and Russian
  • 70 new events
  • Events Editor that lets you create your own stories and share them with others
  • Full English voiceover
  • Additional buildings, items, and item quality modifiers
  • New music tracks and artwork
  • Tons of improvements and fixes

(Quoted from this GOG.com thread)

And I bet there are other games out there with free DLC too.

I think if what I heard about the Wasteland Workshop DLC is true, Bethesda should be ashamed to ask $5 for it .

It would seem Bethesda is

It would seem Bethesda is going the Paradox route with DLC. If you want the entirety Europa Universalis IV it's going to cost you over $200 on Steam. That seems to be what Bethesda is trying to do with Fallout 4. They want to milk it for every penny they can.

Risewild wrote:

I'm not sure what you've heard, but a lot of the stuff that is included in the latest pack is stuff that should've been there from the get go. There are some new and interesting bits and pieces, but the majority of it is assets that were already in the game they just weren't usable in settlements. Now they are usable in settlements. Half of the stuff I think was already added by modders. It's basically DLC I wouldn't have bothered to buy. If I didn't have the season pass I wouldn't have bothered with it, that's for sure.

I also heard that even the mechanics that are new in it (like the arena fights and traps) do not work properly, for example: Human enemies in the arena shoot at the spectators and the Sole Survivor, traps are complicated to place in the place we want them and settlers and brahmin can activate them and get hostile, "cages" are just timed spawns that we have to place inside our settlements how in the world did I manage to trap a deathclaw in the middle of my settlement? makes no sense and sounds just lazy.

(Was gone for a week, sue me) The game has loaded every esm I've attempted to load through hlp with no problem. I may not go back to a mod manager when this is all over. Also: there's a mod on nexus that restores the pause menu interface to pre-survival beta version. It works wonderfully to re-enable saves.
