Broken Steel: Tesla Cannon does not one-shot Vertibirds

The Tesla Cannon no longer destroys a Vertibird in one shot like it does in the original Broken Steel. This is the main point of building it in Broken Steel so the fact that it doesn't do its job makes it a bit redundant.

Can confirm, seems to be related to relatively low damage output for the weapon as compared to the fo3 version...

Probably part of the fact that energy weapons in general were nerfed in new vegas.

might be worth considering simply upping the damages of all tesla cannons.

Has nothing to do with damage output. In FO3 the tesla canon was scripted to insta-kill vertibirds.

A swing and a miss.

"Begin onHitWith GenericVertibirdHitWithWeaponsList

  linkedRef.do 100   End" Problem is the NV version of the tesla cannon isn't on GenericVertibirdHitWithWeaponsList so the special behavior (just die) isn't triggered. Also remember all weapons were buffed between FO3 and NV, the 5.56mm weapons in FO3 did 9 damage/shot whereas the ones in F:NV do 19-22, almost every other weapon type saw a comparable boost. The difference comes in that Guns weapons were buffed relative to energy weapons.

I'd like to point out that

I'd like to point out that while GenericVertibirdHitWithWeaponsList does include both the standard Tesla Cannon and the unique Tesla-Beaton Prototype in TTW 2.7.3a, NVDLC03WeapTeslaCannonUniqueElijah "Elijah's Jury-Rigged Tesla Cannon" from OWB is missing from that list.

Just a minor oversight, I assume.

Did this ever get fixed? Had this issue as well, and found the cause to be the tesla cannon projectile not having the explosion flag set. No explosion, no script triggered, no vertibird insta-kill.

Geez, I really wish I'd just read this post. This was my problem too- and the problem isn't in TTW, it's in FalloutNV.esm. I suspect the change was made deliberately, to make the FalloutNV Tesla Cannon a bit less of a god-weapon or to prevent playtesters from shooting down Bear Force One or something like that. In any case, I now have a tiny little ESP giving me properly working Tesla cannons, and I think I shall be replaying this little assault on Adams AFB.
