just click continue, it is

just click continue, it is looking to create a folder you don't have already. It should create the folder and, install all the needed files. If it doesn't please report with more information.

Please remember we are only in alpha testing now, there are still bugs to work out with the game and, the installer.

EDIT: If that doesn't work try to install to a temp folder on your desktop and, then do a manual install to your FNV data folder.

I've also encountered this

I've also encountered this error, after clicking continue the patcher seems to sit at Copying lodsettings folder...

I tried installing to a temp folder, however I don't think the problem is with copying it over to the FNV folder, as the lodsettings folder is in the patcher itself.

Hi, I am having trouble too

Hi, I am having trouble too and am getting the exact same thing as FalloutCharacter . Pressing continue definitely doesn't help. If you press continue just nothing happens.. Creating the folder it is trying to create itself doesn't help either. Nor does it help to try and install it anywhere else so you can later try to put it into the Vegas folder.

Please fix so i can play.

Keep in mind that FO3 is

Keep in mind that FO3 is pretty large, and the patcher is effectively copying it all to NV. What you may perceive as "doing nothing" may in fact be just moving a large file. I myself thought it stalled a few times, but it turned out it was just taking a while. Full install took around 45 minutes.

I also have this problem and

I also have this problem and I can confirm that it is in fact doing nothing, after letting it sit for 24 hours.

EDIT: Alright I solved the problem. I installed these two and it worked flawlessly.

Yeah guys, same problem as

Yeah guys, same problem as FalloutCharater. The installer throws an exception when it tries to extract the lodsettings from the fallout - misc.bsa. Yes, I have the right C++ Redistributeable for my system and I've uninstalled it and re installed it (Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributeable - 10.0.40219, both with and without the KB2565063 update). No, 2005 one does not help (sorry donkeyhimer). The rest of the installer works if I skip building the main bsa in the options (just skiping the main not the DLC bsa, actually skipped both the first time I started to use the skip options then just the main to see what would happen.)

Here's the full details on the exception.

Don't know if any of this helps. All this is installed on a pretty clean system as I fried my motherboard a couple of weeks ago and had to rebuild my system. OS is windows XP Home Edition (32-bit naturally). Tried installing from a variety of different folders with full admin privileges and to a temp folder on my desktop (BSAOpt_x32.exe threw a wobblie when I tried that something about there being no procedural entry point RegSetKeyValueA in ADVAPI32.dll ?!)

One last point, if you're going to report a problem try and include some details (yes, I probably when a little over the top here). At least include your OS so that the guys know if your using a 32 or 64 bit OS.

I also have a problem with

I also have a problem with the installer. Windows 7 Ultimate edition, 64 bit.

All patches up to date. All redistributables up to date

Tried installing from several directories, and installing to a temp location as well as the nv directory. NV and FO3 are vanilla installs (I deleted/restored them from zips, then did a check in steam).

Attached is information about my system.

Ok my issue was related to

Ok my issue was related to the fact that my group policy was set to 'FIPS required'.

To correct this you will need to disable the "Local Security Setting System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" policy in Windows.

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative tools > Local Security Policy. The Group Policy dialog appears.
  2. Under the "Local Policies" heading, select "Security Options" and look for the entry, "System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing."
  3. If entry this is enabled, disable it.

Also, open the registry editor and browse to the following path.  Make sure this registry subkey is set to 1:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\fipsalgorithmpolicy
In my case this is probably because my base windows 7 version was 'Pro' which I then upgraded to Ultimate.
This is because you were using a non-FIPS compliant crypto library for getting MD5 Checksums I think. Anyway it's an easy fix. And FIPS compliant crypto enforcement should only be needed on very secure systems.

Trying to install TTW alpha 1

Trying to install TTW alpha 1.4a version, I am getting a similar exception error despite having followed instructions above carefully, installer halts on this error before it creates any files (it creates the TempInstall folder though). (Choosing 'continue' does not work, the installer will not do anything, it just sits still - also confirmed with task manager - and I can click the install button again if I want, for yet another similar error message.)

I am using Win XP Pro SP3 32bit which is up to date, I got all of the redistributables and .NET framework 4 since the installer wanted it too (I got an extra error message for this). I am running the installer as an admin. I went through admin tools to disable the fipsalgorithmpolicy, and I also regedited the FIPS value as above in this thread. (I have full versions of both F3 and FNV with all of their DLC.) Other measures I have tried have included deactivating my virus guard and trying to run the installer in safe mode - Makes no difference, same error message.

I tried to do some googling of similar error messages and fixes elsewhere, but could not find anything that made much sense.. I do recall having read something about a mixup with 'AES' and '3DES' crypto-settings in some web server project related to Windows Server 2008 OS, but I am not sure how that could apply here, if it would?

I have no idea what exactly is causing this problem (maybe the installer does not like some setting or component of Win XP Pro SP3 32bit operating system), I really would appreciate help in getting around this issue.

Error details are included here below, just in case they would shed any light on this issue;

Once the installer finishes,

Once the installer finishes, I click the OK button to confirm, THEN an error pops up. It's an unhanded exception related to the New Vegas Fallout_default.ini file because it's being accessed by another process apparently (right). Running a standard Win7 x64 install over 3 HDD's.

Here's the text.

So I think I'm having a

So I think I'm having a similar problem to other people in the thread. First off I am completely inept with technology. I have Windows 7 and I do have the requirements according to the download page. I've downloaded the zip and unpacked it, but when I try running the patcher I get an error which reads "Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\Tim\Downloads\resources\Install.bat'" At the end of the error report, it says something about JIT debugging which I have no idea what it is.

When I press continue, I get to the TTW install screen. It shows that it's found the locations of F3 and FNV and to install TTW in the FNV folder. When I press install, it gives the same type of message as before, but it says "File not found" and has the JIT thing in the report again. I can't go further than this. If anyone here could help, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The first bug is ignorable

The first bug is ignorable its some leftover code that doesn't do anything anymore.

The second bug is serious.

What operating system are you using?

Are you running the installer by right-clicking and choosing "Run as administrator"?

Did you install the Redistributable and .NET framework as listed on the Alpha Download page?

I use windows 7

I use windows 7

I just run it normally. I can try running as administrator.

I've correctly downloaded the redistribution and .NET frameworks

Edit: running as administrator doesn't seem to make a difference

If it helps, this is the dialog I get in the installer box itself:

And then just nothing happens

Try installing to your

Try installing to your desktop and then copying it over to your FNV directory.

Hi all. I have spent the last

Hi all. I have spent the last two days trying to get this to run. As far as I know I have done everything correctly. My problem seems to be fomm. It changes the load order on me. I change it to the correct order as listed and then it goes and changes it on me.

  1. Fallout NV
  2. CaravanPack
  3. ClassicPack
  4. MercenaryPack
  5. TribalPack
  6. DeadMoney
  7. HonestHearts
  8. OldWorldBlues
  9. LonesomeRoad
  10. GunRunnersArsenal
  11. TaleofTwoWorlds
  12. Fallout3
  13. Anchorage
  14. ThePitt
  15. BrokenSteel
  16. PointLookout
  17. Zeta

I dont understand why it keeps changing it. If I do change it they are still numbered in this order so Fallout 3.esm for example is still numbered incorrectly. Not sure what to do here. Please help

Installing to my desktop

Installing to my desktop gives me the same problem, I have however installed it on my windows 7 64 bit laptop with no trouble at all but I would prefer to have it on my 32 bit XP system. and yes the XP computer has no trouble running the games, I reverted back to XP because I prefer that OS

XP is your problem, the bsa

XP is your problem, the bsa unpacker (BSAOpt) has some occasional issues with WinXP. The author has made a new release that SUPPOSEDLY helps with that to some extent. It can be found on the Nexus. Make sure to change the name of the new download to match the one in your resources folder.

If all that still won't let you install it, I would suggest copying it over from your Win7 computer.

Doodlebrain, how exactly are you changing your load order? What program are you using?

Hey all. I am currently

Hey all. I am currently reinstalling both games. I have made absolute certain that there are no other files under user etc. When loading my mods i have always used fomm and never ever had a problem. It has never changed my load order on me nor tried to dictate it either. I will try it again when the software is all finished installing.

For me this is really strange, i have never had fomm dictate the load order. I am using windows vista. Not sure if that has any impact. Will let you know how it goes.

Sorry to say that I have had

Sorry to say that I have had no joy at all. This time around I did a complete reinstall of both games, I then had ttw unzipped and as suggested unzipped into a seperate folder ready to copy across to NV when it was finished.

The installer would freeze on each and every attempt, and freeze almost straight away. That is to say windows task manager would list it as not responding. I did leave it go for a number of hours and you could in fact see that something was happening due to folder size and files appearing but it simply hasn't worked. The installer would remain frozen.

I have been at this for 3 days now. I give up. I have no choice but to wait until something more stable is available for download. I got further yesterday than I did today. This is a real shame because I love both games and to have them as one would be utopia.

Just be patient, the

Just be patient, the installer can take a while, half hour for me, as much as 10 hours for others. I'm sorry the installer isn't working very quickly for you, but its the only way to legally distribute the files.

Seconding Jax's statement,

Seconding Jax's statement, Installer takes me 30-45 minutes, task manager would report it as not responding and the like but it IS still working. If your computer isn't middle of the road or better it's gonna take forever. Shame about you giving up saying it's not stable, TTW is in fact super stable when you get it running.

Also, I had a mod once that would cause FOMM to rape my load order until I uninstalled it. Can't remember what it was now but I have seen the issue too.

Dunno if it'll help but make sure your Direct X is up to date and visual studio is installed. VS 2012 sometimes causes problems with the installer but 2008 seems to do a little better.

Update. Success. I right

Update. Success. I right clicked on the patcher file itself and went into properties. I cant remember which settings I changed about the file however upon installation it ceased to freeze. So I then had a successful install to a separate folder and copied everything across to my NV folder.

Such a small thing making such a big difference on the outcome.

The installer catches a lot of flack but to my knowledge Jax is the only one that works on it and there's no way for him to test it on every possible combination of hardware. Instead of complaining, making silly statements about TTW not being stable, getting frustrated, and giving up you messed with it until you got it working, which is exactly what's needed. Hats off to you for that as not many people that have problems actually do it. I hate to ask anything of you but on behalf of the TTW community could you please check the properties of the file and let us know what you had to do to get it working? Anything else you had to do would be appreciated as well. This will help people who have problems with it in the future as well as possibly providing Jax some insight into what the problem was. Again hats off to you and thanks in advance if you could help.

I am not sure what is really

I am not sure what is really going on with this thing. when i click install  in the installer all it will do is create a Data and TempInstall folder and say "Extracting Fallout - Misc.Bsa..." but nothing will happen. Ive read the above posts and am still not sure if its actauly installing and i just have to be more patient or if there is somthing i have missed. i made it use a temporary folder on my desktop, could that be the reason? is there somewhere else i should send it? ive tried putting it in the fnv foldier but there are already folders there with the same name but have all the addons and some of my mods in them. should i delete those? please help.

Hey everyone, I was

Hey everyone, I was struggling to install this program on my Windows 7 x64 rig for some time; and after updating C++ redist, and .net4.5, and editing the FPIS settings; I still had no luck.

Finally, after digging around, I found this post suggesting that I download Visual Basic; after downloading and installing visual basic; I ALSO updated my Windows 7 install to Windows 7: SP1.

So, I'm not entirely sure which of these two things solved my problem, but if you're on Windows 7, and you can't install; make sure you're upgraded to Win 7: SP1 and try downloading VB2010 express.

Thanks for all the help to those above. I hope my post helps others!

This is the error I got,

This is the error I got,

I  installed c++, .NET and Visual basic, couldn't get to the local security policy, also when I run the installer it tells me that it cant find ttw main bsa in fo3 goty directory, also makes a data folder on my desktop and looks in it and says it cant find same bsa, even though I put the in both directories then tells me its extracting Fallout-misc.BSA, also should the installer freeze? it doesn't for me but I think it should then I would know its doing something with all those huge files( like geck does) Any help?
